Why people leave the forum.....

It's a shame if some of the rotten apples make people with alot to contribute quit.

My personal opinion, just ignore them and keep contributing. People do appreciate it and it brings good value to the forum. The rotten apples won't do as much damage as long as we resist the temptation to yap back at them.

I hear ya 2 pack Dave...weed out the good imo. There some good discussions that go on. The problem with certain types of discussions is that they go into spew mode so quickly...threads like fundamentals, teachers, aiming, etc. There are some great nuggets in there if you can weed out the bad imo...sometimes it may not seem like it is worth it, especially once personal vendettas start taking over.

Word.

I found some good stuff the other day, but I had to wade through the garbage to find it.

I come for technical discussion, which has now mostly devolved to constant correction of pseudoinfo. I think this dynamic is changing AzB into a source of questionable technical info.

I enjoy the technical discussion, when it isn't filled with Instructor Courses and DVD offers. AzB is full of people that think they are right, telling people they are wrong. It's always been that way, it just needs to thin out a bit.

I'll say it's not a very noob friendly place especially if you aren't great at pool. :)

That being said I have thick skin and am a sucker for collecting pool crap so I've made a few friends here and I'm good at ignoring trolls.

That being said I still keep my noob questions off of AZ and ask people around the place I shoot for help because I could post how do I fix X and someone will say do this and then someone will disagree starting a pissing contest between the 2-10 and after that the thread is garbage.

I don't care about opinions and disagreements but at some point every thread turns into a I make more than you, I'm better than you, I've done this bs.

Its the mods that are the issue. They are the ones that set the tone of a board.

If the standards they require are not enforced equally, then you get the type of forum you have now.

I don't know about that. They seem to take care of the hotheads pretty quick.

I think if people used the red rep button more, they would be on top of things a little quicker.

There's a thin line between satire and sarcasm, and some people just don't know how to react to sarcasm on the internet. They can turn on a dime, and boom, someone gets a wedgie.
On the other hand, there are just evil people in the world that couldn't care less about anything, other than they're own opinion....especially, with keyboard in hand.;)

Take it with a grain of salt.

Maybe we need a psychology section...? Is there a doctor in the house..? LOL

It's like another said it's the crab apples who spoil it. . Thanks to all the good guys and the moderators. I have made good friends as well. Mark. Keep it going !!!!!

I like that word "pseudoinfo".

For me, I eventually get a feeling for who knows what when it comes to specific topics. That is true anywhere. Whether is be on this or another forum, at the pool hall, or even a large event,

At SBE I overheard a conversation involving a big dealer who spewed so much misinformation it was comical and it was not a conversation involving a sale.

I've had my times here, just like everyone else. I've even been in detention for misbehaving.
Also, there are certainly people here I don't care for, one of whom I had a run in with quite recently. A true asshole if ever there was one, but such is life on a forum. By in large, there are worst places to hang out.
The conversation here can get a little long winded. Posts can become tiresome, and a bit boring. Think of all the attention that has been given to cue tips, LD shafts, and aiming systems.
This place is constantly morphing and it's hard for many of us to get used to. As for the angst, and downright rudeness, you either consider the source and go on, or consider the source and be gone,
My two cents, Joey. Good thread.

I log in and peruse almost every day. About once every 2 weeks or so I find a thread that looks like it MIGHT be worth opening. I post and/or respond even less often. As far as attacks go, I can remember one in particular that went on for many pages!
When I first joined there were ma y interesting threads and discussions. Now it seems there is more self promotion than anything else.
So I have determined that no one on this forum really has anything of any interest to me that I can't just get from them in person. No need for wasting time perusing...

Perhaps the person joey is referring to is not cut out for the cut and thrust of a board like this. If it is who i think it is i certainly regret the tone of some of my responses to his threads, but it is very difficult to judge who you are speaking to and how to treat them from afar and in writing.

With that said, joey pisses me off tremendously himself, with alternatively shilling products or moaning about other posters. Both are pointless pursuits imo. If you don't like something, do something to change it.

Why I came here

I walked out of a Pool Room back in 1983 and walked out of pool. The circumstances that brought me back to it, just happened and I got the fever again. I dont think it was supposed to happen it just did.

What I saw when I got back in 2005 wasnt so bad but the devolvement concerned me greatly.

Coming here to at least discuss what could be done, gave me something to wrap my mind around as if I could do something about it.

Years later I finally get it that we can assist it in our neighborhoods and thats about it. All this arguing about purity of method and other bs, is just that...BS. I am just happy that I still have two places to play within 20 miles and am planning on doing some instruction and finishing some more books that contain information not out there to my knowledge.

People do tire of arguing, arguing only lasts so long after that if people dont want to play, and enjoy the game together what is there left?

Ive gotten to play a few people from here and it was an eye opener. To suffice more pool is talked about than played and Im a player.

Passive-aggressive much?

You help peddle crap, claimed to have hustled people and have back-handed remarks, but get bent out of shape over a forum response. Give me a break.

You can call me mean-spirited, but the fact is that i have a low tolerance for bs.

Post of the year.

Joey stirs it as well -- if not better -- than anyone here, always hiding behind his priggish, self-rightiousness.

As far as learning anything about playing better pool, anyone can search the internet for free and pull up what they want to know. Those that have been on here over 3 years have seen a thread on just about everything...over and over again. Many enjoy facebook more, where you can get rid of a jerk forever by unfriending him/her. Are they any mods still on here? Johnnyt

Great post, Joey. I had to cut back from visiting AZ. There is a forum member who I have never met who I will absolutely slap in the face if I ever meet them. That's how you know it's time to cut back. This place can be brutal.

When people ask me "are you cleary?" I say... "Nope!"

Only took until post #35 for an attack. That's a fair bit further down than I thought it'd get. Stay classy AZB Main.

not an attack ... just a reason why he would be hiding his identity in the real world.

It was a joke. I don't actually hide my identity. A lot of people know me and like me. Some people hate me and I'm ok with that. Can't win em all and honestly don't want to. A lot of people suck.
