Why so much hate for McDermott cues?

Like a lot of people who are passionate about something, pool players often like being different, their is such a huge selection of customs out there folks like going for something that few others have, or can even get. Nothing wrong with production cues, my house rack is full of them, it would just be kind of boring to not always be sharing new custom cueporn lol

. I say that said:
Amen to that ! Personally for me, I'm a Meucci man, Love the hit of the older meucci's and always played with them. I've won other cues, bought and sold other cues. I tried them out but always went back to a Meucci. My meucci of choice is a 8 pointer, steel joint (actually nickel) from the early 90's. Love that cue and last I checked the batteries are pretty good in it.

My McDermott C-14 is one of the best hitting cues I ever played with.

I have turned down over 10 times what I paid for it many times.

Nothing wrong with a McDermott. It was my playing cue 30 years ago when I first started playing and everyone wanted a meucci. I would say there designs maybe dated and they just aren’t popular anymore. It seems like everyone is playing predator or cuetec these days but there is nothing wrong with the hit or quality of a good old McDermott

Personally, I don’t like their current designs. Some of the old stuff looks nice.
I got a McDermott cue over 15 years ago for a friend and the shaft arrived warped, I sent it back and he got a Predator instead.

A few weeks ago I got the chance to hit a few balls with the G Core shaft that intrigued me a bit, I didn’t really like it’s feel and deflection is rather high.

I also don’t like the fact that they don’t offer the option for an extension except for one line of cues.

All of the above kind of puts McDermott in an irrelevant spot compared to the competition.
Sorry but “Made in the USA” just doesn’t cut it anymore and if it still important to anyone, then there are better “made in the USA” options out there.
