Hump ? What HUMP ?

I made a post (two actually)in the thread "is this a 'help' forum" and it was deleted. WHY? It didn't insult anyone. It didn't start any trouble. It didn't name anyone. It was a joke and pretty funny... imo
I think whoever has the power to delete the posts is letting the power go to their head and taking their job TOO seriously. This sucks.
It seems that everytime I post now,I get a PM and I don't want to keep receiving these PMs.While I previously had no axe to grind with this particular moderator,I now think they are the WRONG person for the job.
I imagine this thread will be deleted also and i don't like it.

Someone seems to enjoy their new found authority. I'm staying out of this one, my views are already known. Sorry I missed your post Smorg.

Hi Smorg! I think the new rules here are that you must stay on topic. This is why your post was probebly deleted. jmho:eek:

I cannot see where the posts were actually even made. If they get deleted, there is a tag that says when and who deleted it, which I can't even find those.

Could it be a mistake and they just never even made the board?

I remember reading his post.

I moderate a highly trafficed forum elsewhere on the internet not related to pool. On this site rahter then just deleting posts we will contact the user via email if the post is going to be removed or lock the thread and post in the thread with the reasons we locked it. We will also always make a copy of any posts we edit in case they need to be put back.

Just randomly deleting post without telling users will do more harm then good and will turn people away due to the unexplained censorship. Take my word for it, I have been moderating a 44,000 member forum for the last five years and I have no problems with the users there and they have no problems with me.

moderating is a thankless job, but dont make yourselves out to be the enemy (it seems like you guys are heading more in that direction then you are in the other direction at the moment)

If any new moderators here want some suggestions or anything on how to deal with people over the internet and moderating, let me know. Keep in mind, Im not telling you how to do your job, Im telling you how to not look like the enemy while doing it.

Like I said, I've looked and I cannot see that it ever existed, much less deleted or edited out.

There would be evidence of its removal, but I find no trace.

Perhaps you should discuss with the other moderators and admins to see if they know anything about it as a few people here remember seeing his posts.

Also, ask the admin/owner to create a Moderator only forum that can only be viewed by you guys. This way you can discuss things easier then email and also move modded posts back there rather then deleting them. This way you retain that copy and only have to move it back if you need to. (keep in mind that I am assuming you guys dont have a mod only forum, since I am not a mod I can not see if you actually ahve one or not.)

I have a screenshot that I cannot get to upload, that shows very clearly, only three posts were made recently.

Day before yesterday, a post he deleted himself yesterday in a different thread and the post in this thread today.

Here's a link to all his posts. Take a look yourselves.

If there is anyone who is subscribed to that thread, will you please produce a the email copy that shows his post?

Heath, if you are on a board like that, you should be able to support my saying that if the post was made, it should be able to be tracked down.

It doesn't even show in his profile where it shows other deleted posts, so like I said..........

Those who read it, what did the post say?

I cant support that because like I said, we never delete posts there, we only move them to the moderator forum so they are out of view of regular users. this way it looks deleted to them. I couldnt tell you what a deleted post will look like or how to track it.

Also, create yourself an alterego just to browse the forums, not to post. What things look like to a mod are sometimes quite different to a normal user.

SB,
Sounds like you might be mistaken. Your thread is still here, and the mod-man thinks you deleted it yourself (or posted in another thread).

We are all BREATHLESS with anticipation to see your post. Put it up again here or there and see if it stays. That would be a great way to see if your paranoia is warranted. Remember, you are NOT paranoid if they are really out to get you.

I had a post that disappeared yesterday too but it's okay. I was nominating IconCue for President, in case anyone missed it.:D

Perhaps all moderators should have anonymous accounts like "Moderator1", "Moderator2" etc. Besides anything else it allows the moderators to continue being a part of the normal forum without worry of personal attack for their moderating tasks.

Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of posters? Only the Masked Moderator!
