Why Was That Thread Closed?

Like he needs sympathy from you?

It's getting awfully thick in here.

DM didn't need sympathy from anyone, what he needed was the free speech to say what he wanted and to be able to defend himself when he was provoked. And he WAS provoked many times. Closing threads and banning DM hasn't changed anything for the better around here and if anyone here doesn't agree with that, then too ****ing bad.

Just for the record, mr roberts, I only go to rsb maybe once or twice a day. I really don't have time to look at it as much as you think I do.When I do go to RSB, I am greeted by about 40-50 posts that Fast Larry has made throughout the day because he has nothing better to do. I'll respond to maybe one or two and its mostly to change the post title because 9 times out 10 its vulgar (from DM & FL - collectively)... I try to keep that BS over there and I don't bring it up over here - I keep it where it belongs and I could care less what any body thinks about it. Most people don't know everything that has happened with that situation - and most people could care less and I don't blame them. I spend about 5-10 minutes on RSB a day. RSB was the worst, most vile, most unfriendly place prior to Fast Larry's arrival. Anybody that says that it wasn't is a liar. I remember when RSB was pretty cool, and I also remember when it started to change. Its easier to sit back and blame it on me (like Ratchet does) which is funny because he's been part of the problem with FL also (how quickly he forgets :D ). The problem with RSB is that it is like the Wild West without the sheriffs. With no rules and no boundaries, someone like Larry can do what whatever he wants for as long as he wants and there is nothing anybody can do about it. Last week DM started a thread about how this forum sucks and how everybody here sucks especialy Mr. Wilson and Mike Howerton. If you can find that thread, you will find it interesting how a lot of the RSB people truly feel about moderated forums.

I prefer posting here and at CCB, but recently I've come to the conclusion that because of my response to the harassment I have received, some people have made it their mission to ensure that I have a miserable experience when I visit here. That is why my PM's are turned off, my picture has been removed along with all of my other information. I know that you don't have knowledge of just how far this has gone (some people on this forum know what I am talking about) - most of the time when I post on this forum - I post funny stuff or jokes - because that is what I like to do and it lifts my spirits to be able to make other people laugh. In return I have been accused of promoting gang violence with my screen name (???), snapshot9 accused me of being a computer hacker (???), and Whitewolf has accused me of being every troll that has ever graced every forum, including Yappinwolf, downtown..etc. etc...My "friends" here know that I'm just a commedienne and a smart ass and I like to have fun and enjoy myself. I'm just having fun. If you read my messages to Larry in that context you will understand that I don't take him seriously, and why I have a hard time understanding why anybody else does. ;)
Why did you take my post personally?I thanked Mike & dave for a great forum and reiterated what everyone else has said about RSB.You need to relax.I have never been attacked by anyone for a post that I have made.If you are posting about pool then you should not entice flaming. If you are not talking about pool then you should be on a non pool related blog.
Happy New Year,
Bob

I got curious enough to spot check the sewer and must say it never smelled better ( or worse ).

I truly find it amusing when the bottom feeders surface.

Trust me folks, if the crap there tries to surface here.....it will be flushed back to the sewer it belongs in.

There was a time I actually felt sorry for DM and did try and help him.

I'll just think of the experience as just a lesson.

There is an old addage that comes to mind.....
"Never wrestle with a pig. The pig likes it and you'll just get dirty."

After reading all your pompous BS about moderating and bottom dwellers, and the smell Mr. Wilson, I shall now refer to you as OZ. The all powerful all knowing wizard of self importance. Happens everytime, give a little rat some power and off to the races we go. I don't like it one dam bit and don't mind saying so. DM contributed more to this board than you ever will. What else do you do besides sit there and look for somebody to unleash you new found powers on. What a nit! You have several posters here who are only here to sell their crap or promote their cause. They have bribed Mike with cues and are promoting that scumbags tour. That my friend is the sewer that AZ is becoming. Bought and paid for by bottom feeding scumbags. When they took all the fat out of beef, you were left with beef that tasted like crap. That reminds me of what you are doing OZ. So freaking ban me caus ya can't take it.

This is still a pool forum, correct? Last I check, there were many posts about pool, so I'm still happy.

If you don't like what AZ has become, then leave. Problem solved.

Purdy has been here long before you showed up so why don't you keep your comments to yourself when it comes to well respected members of this forum.

Either that or don't respond. Another problem solved.

I am saddened to see posters get upset with Mr. Wilson because he has taken on the role of moderating this forum.

Many of the posters who have expressed their opinions are veteran posters, ones that I respect and have followed throughout my time here as a member.

I do believe that moderation is important for AzBilliards. If I stand alone in the minority opinion here, then I guess that is the stance I will take.

It doesn't do any good to debate the pros and cons of moderation if, in fact, that is the decision of the webmaster, a decision which I respect and agree with.

I cannot understand why Mr. Wilson is now a target, only because he volunteered to provide his time and attention to keeping AzBilliards sound.

Sad day, indeed, I say. Wishing you all a very Happy New Year, to include the survival of the AzBilliards I once knew and loved.

You havent' been here long enough to know the history behind what some people post about... case in point, your two cents when I had my issue with Marissa...at that time you only had about 30 posts...you had no clue about anyone or anything going on between people here but you were the 1st person to put your nose in that thread. Since then I've sat here and quietly watched you do it over & over... you make comments to things of which you know nothing about.

Well respected, WOW Koop. Thanks! I wish somebody would tell these ill informed nits that if they have a question, do a search and get 500 answers to their questions. OZ has his eye on me so I probably won't be around much longer. He doesn't know that I personally put in about $600 to send RD to the open. Never recieved the donated funds from Mike and paid for the cues sent to Iraq myself. I personally gave our decesed friend Juston Coleman a $2,200 Phillippi cue and contributed more than $4,000 to help Blud in his time of need. This makes me a jerk. The do nothing nits don't bother me at all.

No disrespect to Purdman, but his last post wasn't exactly respectful to Mr. Wilson. Mr. Wilson is just doing his job of keeping things civil, and he's doing a good job at that.

The bottom line is AZ is a pool forum, correct? As long as members talk about pool, then AZ will always have members. AZ is not a democracy, and freedom of speech does not apply. Mike can moderate the forums however they wish, cuz he is the one paying the bills.

True, I haven't been posting here long. But why does that matter? I'm here to discuss pool. That's what I've been doing. That's what people have been doing since I've been here. The only people who seem to complain are people seeking flame wars.

I responded to you because you brought up my name. I did not take it personally, I just clarified some things. btw - I'll decide where I feel like posting. 95% of my posts are in the NPR section of this forum. Do I need your permission to post elsewhere? I think not. I wasn't attacking you at all. I was clarifying some of the statements you made about me. How is that enticing? I said that I understood that you were not aware of some of the stuff that has happened. No hard feelings here at all. Hopefully its the same on your end.

Strictly your opinion. I don't envy his job here but IMO it has gone from fun to prison camp in 5 seconds flat.

True but what does that have to do with jumping ugly with Don who was making an observation that did not have one thing to do with you.

In short, I have serious doubts that you are a 26 year old from Mass.
So much so that I would gladly put up $50 and hand it to you personally if you are. In the near future I will be heading up to Country Club with my buddy and if you show up and prove to me that you are JSP I will hand you a $50 bill and apologize in person.

Jennie, it's not just because he's the moderator, it's due to how he chooses to moderate. Much like a supervisor at a job...you have some that people enjoy working for and some that you don't. Some rule with an iron fist and others are a little more laid back.... Dave tends to lean closer to the iron fisted rule than the laid back type. I've already stated this before and others have stated it since.

I think the problem people are having now, besides what I've already stated is this... go back & read the post by AlterEgo...it says alot. If I were to call someone on here a bottom feeder, you can bet that I would hear about it. Depending on who it was... if it were a particular person, it would be deleted or locked. If it were someone else I might get a public warning... a slap on the wrist if you will. However, he found it perfectly ok to call the people at RSB bottom feeders.... half of those people are regulars here and cannot help or control the fact that certain people over there argue back & forth worse than any sibling rivalry.

I don't have a problem with moderation... in moderation. I persoanlly have never liked RSB but I feel sorry for the ones that do. I would be saddend to see something that used to be useful & fun turn into what it has become. This place has also changed... just the opposite though... at RSB, people run wild...here, nowadays if you breathe wrong you're hearing about it. There's a happy medium out there and I hope that Mr. Wilson is able to find that happy medium soon.

you are not standing alone. i would be honored to stand with you! :)
as i posted in another thread, mr wilson is new to the job of moderating and will need an adjustment period. he is being challenged and feeling defensive and not appreciated. if people give him time to adapt and adjust i'm sure he will become an asset to the forum as a moderator.
he is doing the job for free in hopes to make this a better forum.

Sounds like you should have more say here than anyone else. Timberly is correct in mentioning that I haven't been here long enough to know everyone here. So I apologize for dismissing your opinion (although you have to admit, your post could have been more civil). Have a good New Year!

He is not new to moderating a forum. This isn't Mr. Wilson's first rodeo.

ok!
but you don't list his experience or how he moderated in the past?
every forum is different!

Timberly, do you not think that it would be prudent to give this moderation thing a little time? :p

Being a moderator must suck a big weenie if this is the outcome, an uncharacteristic backlash by some veteran posters, some who write very negative posts condemning Mr. Wilson for his efforts. :(

In 1986, I was chosen to be a TD for a State tournament, and I had to keep a sense of order during the 2-day affair.

During the thick of it, Freddie Bogg's brother, Scottie Boggs, came up to me and said it was not fair that his brother had to wait so long between matches. They wanted to go home, but couldn't because of the down time, and he wanted me to do something right away.

Meanwhile, an older player named Ed Gast was taking 5 and 10 minutes between shots and holding up the charts big time. I asked him to hurry it along, but he kept on shooting pool at a snail's pace.

Then there was Geese who got knocked out of the tournament early, sitting in the corner like a spoiled brat. Every time I looked his way, he would flip me the bird.

The owner of the pool room kept coming over to me and saying he wanted the tournament to end that night because he was losing table time monies.

I was beside myself, but one thing I did learn is that no matter what I did, it was not going to please everybody.

I think Mr. Wilson is in this position right now. I say give it some time and let this moderation thing settle. I believe he is only trying to help. JMHO, FWIW!
