Ive been shooting with a predator on a Joss custom since the 314's first came out. I shoot well with the predator, but if I switch back to my Olney or Joss shafts, I get much better feel for my ball control.
I think the predators brainwash you into thinking you're getting less deflection, when in fact... they force you to shoot more center english. The more center = the less deflection. The stiffer hit requires it.
The kicker is... once you figure out how to shoot with the predator, you switch back to your GOOD shaft... and holy crap can you zing that ball around. Its not the shaft, but your stroke. If you have a sound, level stroke, I dont think the predator will do much for you.
A good friend of mine just bought my old JN-18 custom. He was shooting with a junk lucasi with a predator 314. He is shooting lights out with the Joss, where he couldnt hit the broad side of a barn with the Lucasi. He is a fairly strong shooter with a very good stroke.
IMO... there comes a certain point when shooting with a 314, that they become a barrier, to advancing your skill level. my .02 take it as you will.
