I Bought a 1961 Gold Crown I the other day and these cues came with it. I have 13 of them. Are they worth anything? Anybody want to make me an offer?
Take pictures of the point work, That would be the real deciding factor for everyone who might be interested.
Please post a picture or two of the points on the cues. As said above this will be the most telling issue for us to consider. I'll split the offer with qbilder and you can get two conversion cues out of thirteen. Since he asked first you can send him the odd one. I'll take 6 and build a cue for you, he can have seven and build one for you. How does that sound to you both?

Thank you all for your interest in these cues. I am shocked and honered by some of the names that have contacted me. I will try and get a pic of the forearms posted today.
Its gonna take a bit to consider the offers.
somebody has to come up with a good price........so hell make a sale move
Doubtful. His best option would be swapping for a conversion, regardless of with me or somebody else. Fact is that no cuemaker is gonna want to gamble a lot of cash on something that might be a huge loss. I sure wouldn't. If you have ever done many conversions of Titleist cues, you'd understand what i'm saying. It's a crapshoot getting a good one, so you may look at 20 of them to find one that's well suited for conversion. Even then, as fun as they are to convert due to bringing an historical item back to use, they are never really worth much except for from top teir builders.
so would like 150 be good 250 which is a good gamble?
It's all up to you. Personally, I wouldn't give a dollar for a Titleist that I personally inspected & found to be either non-convertable or too hard tro convert. That's why I never offered cash. That would be foolish. I don't buy any wood site unseen unless it's from somebody I know well & trust & who knows exactly what they are talking about. By offering a conversion, it's something i'll be losing only time & limited materials on if it doesn't work out in my best interest. And he'd be getting a fair deal either way because a Titleist conversion from me that's done up fancy will likely sell used for $2G's or more. Yes, he could part out everything he has for a little more cash than my cue would be worth, granted that the cues are perfect, but that's work he'll have to do & time he'll have to spend. I'm not trying to rob anybody. But i'm also not gonna put myself in a situation where i'll get robbed. I like dealing fair both ways so everybody's happy. Honesty & true intentions make the best business.
I know all too well what the chances are that most of these cues are worthless. That's why i'm not working hard to get them. I put a public offer out for everybody to see & was honest. Either he agrees or he doesn't. Realistically, i'd expect to get three good conversion cues, one of which would be used for him, leaving me with two. So in essence, i'd be giving up a $2G cue for $600 worth of materials. But on that $600 i'd make $4G's. And I wouldn't actually be paying $600 for the blanks, but instead i'd be paying with time & labor. As I stated, it's a gamble. In my case, it's a well calculated gamble. If somebody just up & offered the guy $150 each for all 13 blanks, unless he's a top teir builder he'd have a very tough time recouperating his investment. Even offering $150 each to try and resell for $300 each would be a huge leap of faith because i'm doubting there's thirteen people in the world who'd pay $300 for a Titleist blank without knowing it's measurements are plenty thick enough for conversion and straight. Like I said, it's a calculated gamble. I calculated my odds of success before I made an offer. If you don't calculate your own risks, then you are not playing a smart ball game.
They sure look to be in nice original condition, but at .860 being the largest, .840 being the second, and everything else much thinner, they are exactly as I suspected. Only a couple of them are convertable, with only one of them being convertable without doing major work with extending the back & that's only if it's straight.
I'm sorry but i'm gonna have to retract my offer. I was willing to make the trade as long as a "blind" trade. But now that I know exactly what you have, it would really be a waste for me. Only one cue would be useful for me & it would be used up building for you. I do appreciate your willingness to share the info. Good luck with your sale. You might consider just keeping them for neat house cues. They'd be awesome for that.
