Willie's Wife Woes

I wonder if she really was just a leach, or if Willie's dedication to the game made him an emotionally detached person.
I've read comments that Willie was a little less than well educated, and that he may have been a little uncomfortable in social situations.
It also makes me wonder if what Alice claimed is true; that Wilie's parent's dominated his life, even as an 'adult'.

false history from book?

I don't want to start anything if I am wrong, but I am on the road and cannot look this up. Does anyone remember a certain billiard historian writing in one of his earlier books that Willie Hoppe NEVER MARRIED? It struck me at the time that a prominent author should have known that he had not only married, but I believe married more than once. If you have the book and have read it then you can look it up. Hint: the same book also gives incorrect info on the game of 8 ball. I will not specify what I cannot prove so I will post again if nobody knows which book I mean. I believe it was written in the '80s.
