winning one pocket

This book is the best one pocket book ever made and I have looked at many. As your game gets better you will go back to the book and find new gems to implement into your game. I wish Eddie Robins would re-release it in a soft cover and a cheaper price for the masses and the hard covers would still be valuable. I think he would sell a ton of them but its easier to say when your not making the investment.

That's a great idea.
I have both books by Robin and I lend them occasionally but would never
sell them.
I would much rather have a soft cover to lend.

Been done the research on this book. I feel as though $200.00 is a fair ballpark range. But quite naturally, you have the final say so. Im not concerned with 'authenticty'. I just want the knowledge to become a better player.

i have a book looks the same do you know if its worth much.

Its worth from 100-200 depending on the condition, it is not as valuable as winning one pocket which is about $50 more from what I have seen.

its a good book.

i did not play one pocket at all
read the book then beat a us open 1 pocket champ.

hell of a book.

W1P and SM&S Offered

I have a extra set that i would be willing to part with..they are in

prestine condition..never used..i got them from Eddie..he put a

message of advice on both of the books first page and signed them..

Possible partial trade for a nice LD solid black collar shaft with 5/16-14

piloted pin..i would value this set in todays market @ $395..and

surely will appreciate in time..Randy @ 614-205-3474

Its the best book on one pocket, you need to get Winning One Pocket. People ask why they are so expensive but the main reason is there is so much knowledge in them, you cant read them just once like most books and throw it aside, you have to keep going back to it so the value is there plus they hold there value.

I borrowed the books and do not own them but when I can I will be purchasing both because I am at another point in my game where I need to go back to them again and get some new gems to move my game up. I hope Eddie sees the demand here and does a soft cover for $50 a copy and even puts your endorsement on it stating how it really helped you.

Amazing how those books keep getting attention after all these years. When they first came out, people where saying "Damn, 40 bucks?" and now its a steal to find a decent one under 100.

The worst part about having perfect copies is I'm scared to bring them to the pool hall fearing I'll stain them or have some idiot mess one up while I'm not looking.

The only other relatively recent pool book I can think of that gets this kind of coin is Buddy Halls Rags to Rifleman bio book.

Rags to Rifleman is a great book that I am also interested in as I only skimmed it. Here is why its so interesting and worth the price. I saw one go from Jay Helfert in very good shape I think for $75 but I missed out on it.

Here is a page from the book.

i think you are right about the $200 price. just not ready to sell as of yet.
as times may get tougher though it may be for sale in the near future. if so i will have it for sale here on AZ.

i do appreciate this book, believe me. but i think there is a lot of "losing one pocket" in there (along with a lot of great stuff of course). trying to bank 4 balls toward your hole and go 5 rails with the cb. i do understand its good for somebody to "see" this stuff to get some creative juices flowing, but really.... the book is filled with shots that just simply dont get shot at during high stakes pool (which is what pool is all about imo).

then he ought to print more books either hard or soft cover it is obvious the books are in demand .

That does mean illegal, as I assume you're aware. Eddie has the right to do whatever he wants with the copyright, after all. Whatever he "ought" to do is up to him. And someone posting that they have an illegal pdf copy is asking for trouble, as I think Eddie has said he will prosecute these people wherever and whenever possible. Just sayin'......

Agreed!! Some of the shots illustrated in sms are shots a smart player is not going to take if theres something significant on the line. What I feel the illustrations in sms should be looked as a way to 'think' how to give an advantage to yourself or take away the advantage from your opponent. But in increments. If I'm a real beginner, I would look at the examples in pieces i.e: 1) protect my cue 2) protect my cue and move balls from his side/hole 3) protect the cueball, move balls from his side/hole, herd balls to my side. And elevate from there. Not trying to do everything in one shot at first. There's alot to this game: chess on the pool table!! Its a gradual process.

Both Winning 1 Pocket and SMS are filled with shots that actually DID get shot during high stakes pool (or tournament situations). Those shots were executed by seasoned pros with mad skills and not the average 1-hole player. Having 100% confidence in your abilities makes most of those shots legitimate. But, keep in mind, that most of the examples are not your bread and butter shots. They are one off shots that were creative solutions to difficult positions. If you don't have the skill set of Efren Grady or Billy, then some of the shots may simply look foolish.

Lenny, I'm not sure that Eddie does own the copyright on these books. Or if he does, there is some legal reason that he can't re-publish. At the very least, there have been problems, and the publisher reportedly tied up the matter with the threat of lawsuits. Perhaps Eddie would consider filling us in on the situation.

Presumably Eddie would like nothing better than to re-publish these books. But I believe his hands are tied. If memory serves, he feels that the books should be available in the $60 price range. But as it is, they've attained collector status due to the publishing stand off.

Eddie still had new copies of the books awhile back from the original printing, so it's from that stock that he sells them online.

There is a similar circumstance with "From Rags To Rifleman". As I understand it, Bob Henning of BeBob Publishing owns the publishing rights, but not the copyright. He has considered doing something with the book, but evidently he can't locate the copyright owner, W.W. Woody and Huckleberry Publishing.
