A friend of mine wants to buy a pool table, and I’ve never owned one so I can’t give my opinion on the matter; I know there was a other brands better than these two but he’s debating between these two due to budget, specifically between:

Wiraka dynasty pool table ( Chinese made )
Vs
Pro star ( from Italy ) don’t know series number but it’s all brown, look close to gold crown.

Both cost almost the same, which one do you think he should go for ? Thanks

I've never seen or played on a Pro Star but we do have a room here in Edmonton that is fully equipped with Wiraka Dynasty tables and they are fantastic. They are super solid, roll true and have great rails. I am very impressed with how they play and how they look.

In the on-line pictures they seem to have metal trim around the edges of the rails. On some tables that is a large problem. Can you describe how the metal trim is working out there?

Is your friend in Italy? If he's in the USA, those are definitely off-brands to be in the running... I have no idea what brands are available in Italy.

There have been no issues with the metal trim at all that I know of. Here is a direct link to the Facebook page for the room with lots of photos if you're curious what they look like in a real setting. Also, if you PM the page, the owner or GM will message you back and may be able to answer your questions.

Decent looking table, good looking room....
...but the chiaroscuro lighting’s gotta go.

I like the Prostar table, played on them. Wiraka also looks awesome. You can't go wrong with both of them.

I'll choose the table that has a thicker slate and the best rubber on cushions.

Friend lives in the Middle East, I don’t know how is this related, but here diamond and gold crowns are twice the price, and these two options are half of the price of a diamond and both are the same price, but I still don’t know how to decide, he asked me to ask you guys for help.

Hmm, you're the first person that I heard mention disliking the lighting. From a player's perspective, I really like it inside the room as each table is really well lit and the background clutter is faded into the darkness so you don't see people moving around.

To each their own.

World 9ball Champ. is played on Wiraka tables. Good equip. from what i've heard. Its a big world and not everybody plays on GC's or Diamonds. A buddy was in Dubai on business and played on Rassons and said they played great. Lot of good makers these days.
