Wish Feature for AZ Billiards Main Forum

From time to time, we meet other AZBers who tell us their real name but for the most part we have come to know them by their real name. On occasion someone that we know personally might tell us that they post on AZBilliards under a screen name that we don't see often.

I wish we had the ability, individually to add real names to screen names because after all of the years that I have been on the billiard forums, I have had the privilege to meet lots of people, some in person and some offline by phone or email. Sometimes after not associating a screen name with a real name, the two don't easily make a connection. It can be a little embarassing even though I don't have a terrible memory, I do sometimes forget a person's real name or vice versa. This is especially true when someone I know says, "Oh yeah, I read all of your posts on AZB but I seldom post" and I say "What's your screen name and they tell me and it is so long before I see it pop up on AZB that I do forget the association.

If we could somehow link a screen name with a real name it would be pretty good. I have never used the "buddy" feature so maybe something could be done with that....

Any advice? (SmorgassBored, let me save you the trouble; I already take Ginkgo Biloba) :winknudge:

Yeah.. being able to associate 'notes' of some sort would be great.. I see screen-names of people and find myself thinking 'I know that name, where do I know it from? I either hate or love the guy, can't remember which!'

But if it's not part of the packaged functionality of the board software, it would be a tall order for the mods.

i agree, maybe it would stop some of these outrageous stories from people who have beaten everyone in the world.

I think he meant personal notes.. not notes that would be seen by all.. I'd be adamently against that.

My biggest wish is for an "ignore thread" feature.....There are some threads that even though they get mass attention I don't care to follow and they are just in my way.

There is a user notes function built into the forums, but it is not private. All notes left for a user are viewable by everyone.

There are tons of modifications available for vBulletin and I checked out the main site for them and was not able to find anything like what you are asking for.

A way to attach Notes to a name would be great. Never seen this on any board but it would be welcomed by many IMO.

Sometimes we have limited dealings with someone and then 6months or 1 year later you can't quite remember.

Also, thanks Mike for checking out the feature wish item. Maybe the developers of VBulleting would take pity on us and add it in on a future version upgrade.

I am with you on this idea as I too have trouble remembering and associatting screen names with real names. I have met many great people on this site and I am very happy we have this site. Hopefully they can work with your idea and come up with something that works.

would it be possible to add in the "user profile - additional information" section:

real name, &;
phone number?

there is already "location."

i think that would be great so we can more easily contact each other for play especially when traveling, but also just so more of us can meet each other in our own cities/towns.

but another option i think would work is our avatar tag line could be our real names and phone numbers.

anybody else think that would be a good idea?
