WNT 2024 Hanoi Open (8-13 Oct), Winner $30K

I always like to root for the Ko brothers. But at the same time, I think it's been a while since the Filipinos had a major win. They keep getting to the last 16/8 and then seem to fizzle out in recent years. So I don't know who to root for, ha ha.

chua would be well deserving. i like his big shots. plays with a lot of heart and tension

Very hard to handicap the final day. For those who've not yet watched him, Roda has a very big game and will test Ko Pin Yi to the max. Chua vs Biado seems a coin toss.

My hunch is that Chua is the man to beat here, but any of these four could hoist the trophy tomorrow.

It should all make for some good viewing. The semis will be played while I'm sleeping, but the final starts at 7:30 AM here in New York, and I think I can manage that.

Thanks for the final’s time.

Come on, Stu. The semis are scheduled for 1 am and 2:30 am in NYC. You could do it! :)

3 of 4 is pretty sick too. WNT needs a manila open, that's clear. this guy vergara qualified and almost made it to semis.
He did well, but was VERY lucky to get past Shane and needed uncharacteristic mistakes and bad rolls on Shane's part to get there.

It is nice to see the pinoys starting to adjust to the conditions though, because, let's be honest, they haven't been doing all that well as of late.

Tired of pulling for Sky W.
It's exhausting. Guy dogged a straight in shot to be up 4 to 0 and is crying because FSR, a truly elite player ran like 5 in a row.
He gives up way too easily.
Blew another chance at the table after that.

The only American who can even play the best is SVB...the rest are like league night.

I get the feeling Sky is just comfortable where he’s at in his life, both on and off the table.

He knows he’s essentially a lock for the mosconi every year, and can go deep enough in tournaments to make a good living and that’s good enough for him.

Forget it.

Shane makes the 8 with a bridge....drags the bridge right into the 9.
Loses the set.

Comfortable = not going to improve....I'd say you are right

Don’t forget Fedor 😉

ko leads 2-1. no error by either player aside from break scratches.

the arena looks packed. the crowd seems partial on the side of ko but in good spirit

8-1

roda has had some input in the last two racks, but missed in one and failed to get a safe in the other.
