Wood comparison

I've heard lots about purple heart and how it plays near identical to ebony. Most people don't use it though because lots have said they don't want a purple cue. The other day I was browsing through here and saw a cue made with red heart... Is this similiar to purple heart and how does it play?

Thanks guys hope for lots of feed back

I luv purple heart ... Very hard wood , plays great in a cue ... Cured properly it is beautiful ... All the old Brunswick , Valley , and Titleist full splices made from it are priceless ...

I have not played with Red Heart much. But I have played with a good bit of Ebony and a good bit of Purple Heart and I can say I am surprised to hear that people are saying Purple Heart plays like ebony. I think Purple Heart has a much livelier hit than Ebony. It is not as lively as Maple but much more so than Ebony.

I use a lot of Purple Heart for coring . Works great, cues have Great hit. I don't like the looks of it , but lots of prople do .

Redheart is very similar to maple in terms of weight, density & playability. I like it a lot. It's nothing like purpleheart. Purpleheart is rigid & stiff and a lil bit heavier. Ebony is hard, heavy & stiff. Not much flex. It all makes nice playing cues.
