Wood Identification

I just had a friend return from South America with a bunch of wood in his suitcase. The rounds are from a local funiture factory so I assume the wood is local also. They are all heavier than maple and appear to be hardwoods but I do not recognize them. Any one help me out.

Looks like some Pernimboco (sp?) I have. I got it from a Canadian luthier supplier. It's used for violin bows.

If they stay straight, I'd like to know the secret. :grin-square:
Third from top looks like braz cherry.

They all look like brazilian cherry to me. I would bet money on that being furniture parts and from where you stated.

If it is braz cherry, it'll stay straight. I have never had braz cherry that moved. The stuff is unwarpabe. This stuff could be anything. Looks a lot like that red/brown grainy rosewood that Brunswick used in Titleists forever.

Thanks for your help. The top one has the colour of South American Cocobolo, the next has a slight pink tinge, the third is muddy brown and the last is very blond. My camera does not take the best of pictures and neither do I.

My friend indicated that all were different woods.
