I'm interested in having a 6pt cue made. But I want to supply some of the wood. How big of pieces would I need to get for the smaller 'low' points?

Thank you.

Depends. On my cues, the short points actually have more of the point wood than the long ones because I use less veneers. You'd probably be safe with 8-9 inches.

Oops

I meant an 8pt cue. My mistake. Ok, so 9"x1" thick? And I would need 4 pieces (1 for each point)? Thanks for the reply Tony. Much appreciated sir.

you can cut the square into halves diagonally but honestly i am not sure what size you need.my guess would be 2 one inch squares would be plenty.

If you are going to order them, unless you know the dealer selling the wood, they come in 9-18 inch pieces by 3/4 for the most part.
Rex, what type wood you after? I may be able to help you out.
Thanx,
Jim Lee

For a 8 point cue I would use 4- 5/8 x 5/8 x 11". If you are going to order your own wood, you would be better off ordering a 1.250 x12 for point stock. So you have all 8 points out of the same piece of wood. JMO only! This is how I do it in my shop.
