Anyone have any prices per lb? Best i've found so far is $8.50. I have 21 lbs to get done...

That's the cheapest I've heard. BTW, usually they charge by the pound, after they treat it. So 21lbs now, may become 35lbs or more after treatment and that's what you'll be charged on, just a heads up incase you weren't aware of that. Good luck on your quest.
I am currently playing with doing my own with a vac chamber. Actually will be trying some this weekend with a spalted wood that I just cut up today.
I ran a test piece using minwax wood hardner on some maple burl and had some good results, so I'm hoping tommorrow will be even better using a polymer mixture.

river ridge products

you might want to call steve at river ridge products. he does my buckeye burl and i have always been very happy with his work.
and remember the cheapest doesn't always work out to be the cheapest. you find someone that doesn't know what they are doing and they can screw-up the wood.
good luck.

Dave: Pls let me know how it turns out as I am interested in experimenting
with this also. Bob

I will report back when I have some results. When I do, I'll post a new thread so as not too hijack this one. I have been sick for a few days and didn't get as far today as planned. I tried dissolving the Acryloid (Paraloid) B72 in denatured alcohol, but it doesn't seem strong enough to melt all of it. Will try acetone tomorrow, had to go buy some. They say it can be dissolve with acetone, and ketone also, both of which are highly flamible:eek: Good thing to do outdoors tomorrow.

I have a guy local that supplies the wood for a couple of vendors at Valley Forge. Best practice is to turn to a larger dimension before sending it so the price stays down. /# after treated. He uses acrylic and dye.
It has been a while so I don't remember a price.

I have fooled around with B72 some myself. It will dissolve in lacquer thinner
and will not dissipate as quickly as in acetone. What ratio are you using?

(Plastic Impregnating)
We can resin stabilize your wood for you. Not sure if this will work for your wood? Check out our trial offer below. We use a pressure impregnation process with a heat curable polymer resin.
Wood Stabilization has many potential benefits:

Brings out the beauty of the wood by adding contrast to the grain and figuring.
Reduce end grain tear out
Hardens soft or spalted woods
Greatly reduce effects of humidity changes
Reduces or eliminates finishing requirements (varies with species)
Greatly improved dimensional stability for burls and highly figured woods
Please note that stabilizing will not repair cracks and holes

Stabilizing Prices (shipping extra): (all pricing and weights are based on after stabilization finished weight, not raw untreated weights).
