Are the wooden shaft threads on carom cues all similar. I know there may be some difference but from what I see they all look very similar. What is the way to tell if the threads are the same other than screwing them together to see if shafts are interchangeable?? Is there are size for them? They are never listed as 3/8x10 or any other size for that matter that I have seen. I'm only looking for the info on the wood threads...

The threader in the link listed above is not very good, the beale threader is much better. I build a lot of cues with wood pins in the butt. Working with wood is a bit different that using a metal pin, as you can make a shaft using a metal pin for a cue that you have never seen if you have all the correct dimensions. But for me its a bit different using wood pins. even after the wood is treated to make it very solid it will move after its been threaded, and each one has to be hand tuned. i want the fit to be very tight, so its one shaft finished to fit one butt and only that butt, so my cues do not have interchangeable shafts. But remember i do this as a hobby and i'm sure that someone out there can build wood shafts that are interchangeable. chuck starkey
