I have a question about Acrylic. I have a piece of rod, when turned it gets cloudy. Can anyone tell me how to get the Acrylic back to clear? Thanks in advance.HEH

Wet sand, using finer and finer gritt, then use micro mesh gritts, then Novus plastic polish, #3 then#2. Also as Joey said, small light passes as you work it on the lathe, then do the above. Too heavy of a cut heats the material and will leave cut marks that are harder to remove.

rectifying your acrylic problem

You must wetsand it up to atleast 1200 grit and then use a polishing paste depending on if it has automotive urethane on it or bare... you need to use a urethane polishing paste such as finese-it II and it must be buffed out on a lathe so you can gain high-speed revolutions for optimum results... If it's just bare acrylic you can use jeweler's rouge "white" to accomplish the same results !

If you have any further questions please give me a call 321-631-1827 I will be more than happy to offer my knowlege regarding your plight !

Sand and polish in simplist terms , as stated. The only FYI is you really want to be using cast and not extruded rod for best result machining and finishing.
