Hi folks

Apparently from November 25 - 30, 2009 the WTBC (world ten ball championship) will take place in manila, philipinnes. In the older days when 9-ball world championships took place, it was a big deal and lots of information cud be found easily. not the case for the upcoming event. however, when digging around i found the following page:

http://www.clubcapo.tv/en/wtbc_2009.php

they offer a ppv live stream and presented free streaming for the qualifyers in the past days. to my knowledge, in the past matchroomsport was running the whole thing. does anyone know whether matchroomsport gave up on these events? i have a little trust issue with the clubcapo thing here. i dont know these guys, never heard of and to watch the thing they want u to register and give quite some personal information. I just wonder if anyone has done it yet or cud help me lose any doubts. i really would love to be able to follow the action via live stream.... Also here in Europe in the larger forums i can only find sparse info on the wtbc. i find it shud be a big tourney coz there is more than 250 dimes to win... and it seems to be the official world ten ball championship according to the wpa.

thanks and any thoughts.

Common example of how little is mentioned about professional pool. Even on this forum that tournament has hardly a peep. And the event easily has the most difficult field since the last World 9-ball championships and a stronger field then the US Open.

99.996% of the people on the planet do not have a clue that the event is taking place and it will come and go adding virtually no new fans to the sport.

@Celtic

u speak my mind... I just wrote an e-mail to clubcapo folks asking for heads up why the marketing apparently totally failed in Europe and the US. I was complaining in the past already a couple of times that people seem not to show interest in the international scene. I wonder why?

whatever, hope to find out in time abt the wtbc. main tourney shud start in a few days already....

Should be out in a year, in parts, on youtube if we are lucky. English commentary may be too much to ask.

Commentary is not a big deal, besides we as pool players speak the same language. Right english, left english, back hand english etc..

Just wait for the live streaming coverage via ESPN STAR using SOPCAST or TVU. I think they will start having the live broadcast starting on Nov. 27.

I'm over here now. The WTBC is definitely a big deal over here with banner reporting by the local newspapers and live TV coverage several hours a day. They have a field worthy of being called a World Championship. Top players from around the globe are here. Biggest purse of the year as well! I'll keep you posted as to any interesting happenings.

Credit to the Raya and the WPA for putting a strong field together. Many of the top filipinos are in this one.

Hey Roy

it seems from the list - thx for providing the link - that busti, reyes and pagulayan r not on it.... is this the boycott thing going on? what a stupid shit is all this? they belong there - always. Wu Chia-Ching I cud not find either....

Wu could not play since he is Singaporian now.

In addition, Alex could not be found on the list as well.

hope ur ppv stream was a better quality than the free stream of the qualifiers :) on my end it was bad quality and choppy as hell. cud not watch more than a minute....then again interruption and had to reload :( i guess i will pay it as well, coz it is only 10$. feel more reluctant to give personal information to guys i dont know and dont make me a very trustworthy impression. still have no answer on my e-mail i sent last night. based on that u can see how professional they are....

lets hope for the best...

Has anyone registered at clubcapo.tv and payed for the live stream?

.....still have no answer from the customer support of those guys, wrote for the 4th time now!!!!.....

Does anyone who is representing the US this year, I must have missed the press release and I spoke to several players Putnam, Bryant and Davis that said they just couldnt afford to do it.

It should be a much better event with all the pinoy players being allowed to play.

I bought the stream and I get a new image every 10 seconds or so. I think Ralf is playing.

The buying process is very unintuitive. I bought the feed but I cannot view the stream from the members page. Also the members page doesn't work with IE8. I have to use Mozilla. Anyways to view the stream I just clicked on the live stream link and it came up. Didn't even have to log in.

Seems I can get the smaller screen to work if I minimize it a bit from the full screen size. Ralf is up.
