World 10 ball in Oslo cancelled???

I saw something on facebook today saying that the WPA have put out a message that the World 10 Ball that was to be held in Oslo, Norway this year has been cancelled. Am I the only one who heard this? Is this just BS? what I read seemed to be quoting Ian Anderson the honcho at the WPA. Anyone?

Robb Saez posted some information about the cancellation @ FB but I just checked the website and it still lists the Championship. No mention of cancellation.

Ugh! Also, not as looked forward to but in the same vein, the WPA site News section states the 8-Ball World Championship in May (in Dubai) is postponed, though it still appears as an upcoming event. Taking the article at face value, the postponements don't seem to be related... But having two events like that give me a sinking feeling in my stomach.

there was another one in Europe right after M-Cup, Shane was going and had paid for his plane tix. They kinda sorta made it right with him but wow its scary to see so many events dropping. pool players will have to get jobs, then they might not be able to come to events that would happen which would cause more cancellations, if that feeds on itself-it dont look good.


Seems that league pool, of Hobby League they call it here in Germany and private clubs will be all thats left, sad.

yeah, and makes me feel something's gone wrong with WPA. Is it since infamous Makabenta times (when World tournaments were cancelled after having successful times at the Philippines) when it started, I don't know. But that definitely digs a pit for pool deeper. That's very sad they just can't make things right, can't find reliable promoters, etc. Feels like we'd better have played snooker, its organization is far superior to pool
