World 10 Ball Silence

Well, Monday's gone (first promised date of payment) and now we're 10 1/2 hours into the 2nd promised day of payment. I wonder how this day is going to end? 6 1/2 hours to the end of this banking day and still no word if Pulpul got paid or not. One thing I'm sure is that some other player was promised next Wednesday, Oct 29, for his prize money. Just his or does that apply to everyone else that's waiting to receive theirs?

Simple psychology. If Makabenta was sure to have the money, he would have announced it or even explained it. This is similar to the time when the WTB website deceivingly had its sponsors page "under construction" days before the tournament. The very day that Makabenta negotiated with PAGCOR in optimism, the sponsors appeared instantly and a column in AZ followed almost simultaneously. No announcements means no money.

Word is that Makabenta is selling the rights to the accredited years that WPA had allowed him to have the WTBC. Any buyer will have to assume the bad reputation and the vulnerability of the WPA accreditation. If WPA can get away with this blatant display of power that conquers fairness, intelligence, prudence, and the well-being of the sport, then perhaps the WTBC rights may have a premium.

Makabenta has a few options IF he is not able to collect the money from PAGCOR or able to sell the WTB rights. One is to select the people that he is going to pay prioritizing it on who is more likely to bring him to court. Another is for him to disappear from circulation but it is most likely that he cannot anymore move from one sport production to another like how he moved from boxing to pool.

WHAT WPA CAN DO NOW TO SAVE ITS CREDIBILITY AND ITS CONSTITUENTS FROM BOLTING OUT IS TO GET RID OF ANDERSON AND OVERBECK even just as an apology to the pool world for guarantying a tournament despite questions in the producer's credibility in producing the prize money. They also have to expel BSCP as a country representative of the Philippines for involving itself in the only prize money anomally in the history of WPA sanctioned tournments. .

Deja vu, but now on a larger scale. Perhaps the WPA should be given a week or so to come up with something before urging others into organizing professional associations world-wide. BMPAP came to being after the BSCP was given ample time to rectify the problems it was causing their constituents.

WPA has to straighten up and be respected SOON, because as of now, they have to earn the respect that it lost with Anderson and Overbeck.

Exactly! So what we really need is:
hatawWB.jpg

PLAYER POWER! How to achieve?
-Exposure from events
-media exposure as the above tabloid picture shows
-Merchandising as in the picture below. We have started our Merchandising Dept. and, of course, the players get royalties.
tshirtWB.jpg

Starting its first season too will be "Sticks and Balls" which will also be carried in a cable channel all over the world. We found one that only charges subscribers in the USA $5/mo

Oct 24, 3:17pm Manila (2nd promised date of payment) and banks will soon close. Any word from anybody at the Open?

As of 3:25pm Manila, Demosthenes Pulpul hasn't received payment. Reply to his Manager's query about the date of payment "Just Wait"!

If no payment is made today, then on Monday Raya will be more than 3 weeks late with paying up.

It is OBVIOUS that they didn't have the money before the tournament started...

This is just sad.

Even though many people tried to warn the players etc, only 2 guys believed enough in Raya/WPA to make a bet with me... Shows that Raya/WPA is trusted by a lot, right?

Nostroke tried to pay me over a week ago, and I said I didn't want his money, but we have decided to make a bet on the US Open instead. I said that since I really don't want the money, I will give him a real fair chance. He will win the money back if Ronato Alcano is not going to win the US Open. If Alcano wins, I will get 40 $ instead of 20 $.

I am gonna ask for Berry's money though. He hasn't replied to my pm yet, and since he posted this when the tournament started, I want his money:

So the WPA say's the money is there but still some forum members no better because there are some roumers.... when will they learn?

Do I have to wait for my money till after the tournament and when all players are paid?

I will let you know when Niels receive his check with 100.000$ :)

Roumer go's that Roy doesn't have the money and that all bets are off.... I have talked to a Pinoy that talked to a yank that knew a guy who said there was no money at Roy his account. He read it on a forum!

This was my responce:

Yes Berry, you will have to wait till after the tournament to see if people get paid. That was the bet...
1. The World Ten Ball Championship will be cancelled
2. The World Ten Ball Championship will not have 400 000 $ in pricemoney as announced, and if it does, the money will not be paid in full to all players immidiately after the end of the tournament.

I am not interested in knowing when Niels receive his check, I am more interested in knowing if it bounce or not ;)

Well Roy, I almost want to bet the $40 credit I have with you that Berry won't pay you. :-)

This is really sad. Truly.

I hope that I live to see to see the day when threads like this one never appear on online forums.

I hope that the day comes when all we argue about is who is going to dominate the next tournament.

I really hope that the players get paid, but more importantly, I hope that the players get smart and realize that the power lies with themselves.

Darren Appleton said this, 1 hour ago.

basically everybody talking and asking about world 10ball payment as to date nobody been paid yet.:-(. and the organisers not said anything which is a little annoying ...and it just took my focus away from playing in the tournament 100% and at this level you get punished ..just hope get paid soon for 10ball then can take break for a week or two... and come back stronger and mentally better prepared.. the last 2 events i done ok considering i had no preparation and the matches i lost i didnt have the best of luck and opponents got handfulls of it.. but thats way it goes ...

thanks everybody for messages and support really helps ... i think the final 2 places in mosconi cup team get picked next week for team europe i hope i done enough this year to get picked which would be my goal for year achieved ...along with been world champion :-) fingers crossed!

I thought the players had learned after the IPT, but obviously not. And even worse, the WPA seems to be a part of it now, since they sent out that statement saying everything is ok and that there will even be added money for the tournament...

No way. We are gonna let that money ride. How about a bet on the Guiness Tour stop this weekend. Will it be a Filipino or a Taiwanese who wins it? You pick and I will bet double or nothing. Or just bet 10 or 20 or whatever.....

Ok on the case.... I guess I will have to take your money there too :-)

Seriously though, we are in a much better position to do everything you want now.

Maybe they DID add money but apparently it wasn't enough. I wish that the WPA hadn't backed this in this way. I am inclined to think that they got hosed as well and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they haven't received the sanction fee. I hope it's not more devious that they knew the money wasn't there.

How this could happen again in the post-IPT pool world is beyond me.

If I were an Escrow Broker I'd be figuring out how to sell my services to tournament promoters right about now.

How about I put up my 40 $ on Alex and Dennis, and you can get the rest of the field for 70 $ ;)

Never mind all this escrow business. The WPA have a bank account. That is where all the money should be before a ball is struck. Don't the WPA have a contract with Raya or the BSCP?

But this isn't just a forum member Berry. This is a forum member that has a finger on the pulse of the Pool Community here in the Philippines.
