I'm hardcore rooting for the Chilean team right now... The underdog factor has kicked in.
They are one rack away from hill-hill vs. the #1 seed.

This is fun to watch. Good format.

And just as soon as I hit "submit." Chile scratches on the break and leaves a roadmap table.

I had began to root for them too. They actually played very well (a lot better than I expected them to). Tough break for them.

Congrats to Chile on its fine effort. Despite losing 7-5 loss, the Chileans gave the Philippines a stiff test.

What an asinine comment made by the American commentator after the Philippine win about how much rice they could buy in the Philippines with the winnings. Could have come up with a much better way to say that Filipinos play really good when money is on the line.

The Philippines did not play well today and were lucky to survive. Two scratches on the break (both proved costly) and some mental errors as well. Dennis had a relatively easy 2-9 combo to get to the hill at 6-2 and he opted to play a questionable safety instead. The combo had a natural safety built into it as well. True that Chile got a couple of favorable rolls, but that was only after the PI made less than stellar shots. Both Dennis and Lee Vann looked a little tight to me. They will have to play a lot better in their next match to continue.

I, too, was very surprised by Orcullo's safety. I think a fundamental philosophy of the players from the Philippines is to look for the two-way shot before the safety, and I think it's one of many reasons that they are the best. To me, this choice was unusually passive.

I saw the Finland v. Korea match as well... Mika and his partner were beasts! Completely destroyed their opponents 7-0...

Although I'm not ready to change my prediction, I believe that Finland displayed a higher level of communication than any of the other teams that played today.

2 of my final 4 teams survived the first round. I'm looking for USA to beat Croatia right now and I need Germany to beat Malaysia tomorrow morning. :thumbup:
