Rack 1: England win the lag but the break comes up dry. Gray pockets the first ball of the final with a 1-8 combination.

Morris later has to play a jump shot on the 2-ball and appears to get lucky as Peach is hooked. But a kicked shot off the side downs the 2-ball before Gray misses the red 3.

Van Boening makes a fine jump shot of his own and that helps USA move into the lead.

England 0-1 USA

Rack 2: Van Boening crushes the break and leaves Morris a shot on the 1-ball but he misses it. It does not matter as Peach scratches on the same ball and USA have ball in hand.

It is a nervous start from the English duo and America double their lead with Morris downing the 9-ball.

England 0-2 USA

Rack 3: Two balls down from Morris on the break and with another over the headstring it is a legal break from America.

They are in a good position and look well placed to inflict more pain on England. But van Boening, after sinking the pink 4, sees the cue ball disappear into the side pocket and England have a chance. Peach and Gray do the rest.

England 1-2 USA

Rack 4: No balls pocketed from Gray's break but there's no shot on the 1 so America opt to push out. After some good safety play Morris leaves a simple effort on the 1-ball that England cannot miss.

Gray and Peach never run out of position and Gray, playing in the biggest match of his career, downs the 9-ball as the scoreline now shows 2-2.

England 2-2 USA

Rack 5: No luck for Peach as his break shot comes up dry despite both the 2 and 6 balls hanging over separate pockets.

A delicate 5-6 combination from van Boening leads to Morris sinking the 5-ball. There are no further problems for the USA duo and they regain the lead.

England 2-3 USA

Rack 6: Dry break from America leads to an English push out. Gray misjudges an attempted safety and the cue ball deflects off the 1-ball into the top pocket.

USA have ball-in-hand and a table that has 4-2 written all over it. But they have a slice of luck as they nearly scratch into the side pocket but the cue ball just stays out.

Van Boening produces a fine effort to pocket the green six and it is as high quality as you would expect in the final. For the second time in the match America move two ahead.

England 2-4 USA

Rack 7: Morris sends two balls down on the break but his next shot ends in disaster as the red three is left hanging over the top right pocket.

England accept the gift before Peach finishes the rack off as the Europeans pull one back.

England 3-4 USA

Rack 8: Illegal break from Gray as three balls fail to be pocketed or go over the headstring.

Team-mate Peach fails with a 1-5-9 billiard and America are back in action. America seem calm and relaxed as they restore their two-rack lead.

In between the racks Morris jokes with the crowd. Being friendly, relaxing himself or gamesmanship?

England 3-5 USA

Rack 9: USA race through the ninth. With a shot available after the break they storm through the balls and quickly move three ahead for the first time.

England 3-6 USA

Rack 10: The English pair leave the arena, despite USA about to break next. Is this gamesmanship from the Europeans? Are they trying to throw the Americans off their stride? When England return Morris' break is illegal and Peach opts to push.

But the Americans make an error as they play out of turn as Morris takes the next shot, but it should have been made by van Boening.

Peach alerts referee Nigel Rees who calls a foul and England have ball-in-hand. The Americans, not wanting to make the same mistake again, check with Rees as to who is playing the next shot.

However, Gray misses the green seven and the earlier error does not matter. Morris pots the 9-ball and tells his partner "We almost threw that one away there".

England 3-7 USA

Rack 11: A perfect break from van Boening sees two balls pocketed, one over the headstring and a straight-forward shot on the 2-ball.

England are rooted in their seats and America now have a five-rack lead and heading towards their first World Cup of Pool victory.

England 3-8 USA

Rack 12: Morris comes up dry to give England a rare opportunity. But luck is not on their side and they have to play safe. But they force an error as van Boening leaves the 1-ball on.

Peach pots the 1-ball but has no easy shot on the 2-ball. Gray plays a kick shot off the side rail, the 2-ball stays out and a thin cut opportunity is left for Morris. But he misses it before Peach does the same and the chance is gone.

But they are soon back at the table and a successful kick shot on the red three from Gray puts England back in business.

America had won the last four racks but England end that run to keep their hopes alive.

England 4-8 USA

Rack 13: A good break from Peach and England have a shot on the 2-ball.

There are no problems for Peach or Gray and they complete a confidence-building break and run out and win two in a row for the first time in the final.

England 5-8 USA

Rack 14: Despite the last break coming from the right-hand side, Gray now breaks on the left but comes up with a dry break. USA are looking very good, making few errors and only two away from the title.

England 5-9 USA

Rack 15: It is a good break from van Boening. But America run out of position and have to go safe. A jump shot from Peach goes wrong and there is a chance for van Boening on the 5-ball.

It rattles around in the jaws of the pocket but does not drop. Is that the turning point?

England take advantage and Gray downs the 9-ball into the side pocket and England win a rack but still trail by three. "It's now do or die" Gray tells Peach.

England 6-9 USA

Rack 16: England need a good break but don't get it. The 1-ball is down but only one more passes the headstring.

An illegal break sees America in action. They don't capitalise and a superb shot from Gray gets rid of the 2-ball with decent position for the 3-ball.

Safety play then Morris get a bad run as a double kiss on the brown seven leaves England three balls from another rack. Peach downs the 9-ball. England now won two in a row and breaking.

England 7-9 USA

Rack 17: Gray now follows his team-mate and breaks from the right-hand side. Both the 1 and 2 balls go down with another past the headstring.

Peach eyes up a 3-9 combination but misses, although it goes safe. America try a kick shot on the 3-ball and leave it on for Gray. He pots it but Peach has no shot on the pink 4.

Peach tries to leave the 4-ball safe but, according to commentator Jim Wych, 'leaves it in the worst place possible'.

Morris and van Boening do the rest and America are on the hill.

England 7-10 USA

Rack 18: Good break from Morris, shot on the 2-ball. The World Cup is in reach for USA.

"This is over" says Wych as van Boening downs the 4-ball. Morris rolls in the 8-ball, they call for an extension, van Boening takes his time, chalks his cue, and wins the World Cup for America!

Result: England 7-11 USA
