If each country is represented by only two players except the host country how are the participants chosen? Seems like a huge burden for only two people to have on their shoulders representing their entire nation.

The players are chosen by Matchroom Sport who own and produce the event. There are no hard and fast rules for the selection process but sometimes they pay heed to WPA rankings. So the 31 countries who have two players whose names appear on those rankings get a team spot. The two named players are then the representatives of this country. Outside of that Matchroom generally have qualifying event that are organised by Gre Leenders. He tags them on to a Euro Tour event to give players a chance to qualify and also play on the main ET tournament.
In the case of player from European source countries these can be determined from Euro Tour ranking but the long and the short of it is that MATCHROOM have a veto over using any player who does not fit their requiremnts

They're chosen based on their performance throughout the year, just like the Mosconi Cup. The players aren't chosen at random. It's a huge burden yes but there what makes things even more dramatic. A lot of Americans were disappointed that team USA lost to Qatar this year in their first round. Just goes to show that the other counties are really stepping up their game and makes competition that much more difficult.

I never understood this but from you're saying, because whatever country is hosting the World Cup of Pool is benefited to having two teams? I never understood why there was an England A and England B in this year's World Cup of Pool. Seems kinda unfair if you ask me, host country or not. If you look at it this way, if Chinese Taipei lost, then England A would be facing England B and either way, the final winner of the 2015 World Cup of Pool would be England. Chinese Taipei performed astonishing this year and definitely deserved to win the World Cup of Pool.

I think the host country getting two teams makes sense.
The host country provides the best chance of a live audience.....
....gotta give them the carrot.
..and it's not unprecedented
