Looks like the girls are out. On the boys side, Sergio and Brendan are still in it on the 1-loss side. Brendan put Nick out of it and Taylor put April out of it.

What a bummer that the Americans defeated their American counterparts.

So Brendan and Taylor are still swinging. :happydance::happydance::happydance:

Actually, Brendan and Sergio are still in it. Taylor put April out, played a couple more matches and then lost again ending her run.

It sucks that almost every American has been put out of the tournament by another American. Guess that's just the luck of the draw.:embarrassed2:

Quarter finals tonight. Brendan and Sergio play euros and if they both win will play each other to go to the finals. 8 boys left. Taylor lost to a Japanese girl who then sent kamila the defending champ home. 4 girls left. All quarters tonight at 7, about two hours.

Saddlewbow,

Does Brendan play Daniel Guttenberger or Sebastian Batkowski? Either way, GO USA!

So are all the girls out? Isn't Taylor a young lady?

BTW, this is a thread hijack, but what did you think about that Season Finale of Sons of Anarchy? You're the one that got me strated on that show. I had never seen it before until you told me about Walton's cameo appearance.

Oh, man, that was intense. :yikes:

I can't wait for Justified to start January 7th now. I'm going to have Sons withdrawals.

I walked around for about 5 mins thinking, I can't believe they did that . When Gemma and Tara met in the kitchen ,that was the first time you saw Tara get that "oh shit" reaction. Who will be left standing at the end?

Girl’s division:
The girl from Taiwan, Zhi Thing Wu, looked well in control today in beating April Larson (USA) 6/3 and advancing to the quarter finals. Also impressive was the Polish girl Kateryna Polovinchuk in accounting for her opponent Kayla Roloson of Canada 6/2. Defending champion Kamila Khodejava has saved herself from elimination and got entry into the quarter finals when today she beat both Juane David 6/3 and Julietta Block 6/4.

Hello !!! :sorry: how is this possible ??? some respect to our young players is due
Yekaterina Polovintchuk is a proud citizen of Ukraine :)

On the occasion: Respect and All the Best to all the people from Ukraine - they are currently standing up for their better future !!!

Yes, you are correct. I was following Joey and Sergio. I was not familiar with the names of the otherAmerican juniors.

Check her out here: http://wabi.tv/2013/12/05/taylor-reynolds-shows-skills-pool-table/

She sure is pretty! :)

The girls finished yesterday and Taylor came in 5th. April Larson and Taylor matched up in the first or second round on the losers side. Taylor won that one. I think April (13) is from Minnesota and Taylor (16) is from Maine.

Great job to the U.S. and Canadian players for your participation and for giving it your all on every match. I was very proud of your competitive grit and incredible skills during the tournament.

And to the parents a SINCERE thank you for allowing them to go half-way around the world and for your proud support of them while they were there competing. The week was long with travel with over 20+ hours and over 10K miles each way. I hope every one had a safe return trip home.

I enjoyed spending time with all the parents. To Bill Crockett thank you for all your help and we will truly miss you and Brendan competing at future junior events. To Tammy Reynolds thank you for the crazy rides on the roller coasters with Taylor and looking out for Tyler. Misty B. it was also fun with you and Joey on the rides and at the airport heading back to Houston. To Dave and Angie Larson it was an eye-opening experience on our tour thru Joburg. You have a wonderful family. Bud Evans and Joe Rivas you guys are funny and a bit crazy for driving on the wrong side of the road. Sergio and Nick played extremely well. And to Ron K. I enjoyed spending time with you and your super nice daughter Kayla who is a truly gifted player who will represent Canada well in future world events.

I would like to sincerely congratulate the European and Asian players for their outstanding play. Their players are extremely talented with great sportsmanship.

And to the BEF and Samm Diep-Vidal- Thank you so much for the opportunity to coach the team. Samm did a lot of hard work to make sure everyone got to the tournament. She is doing a fantastic job with the BEF and she should be helped and supported more by the industry.

The U.S. has some hard work ahead to be competitive in future world events. The future of junior billiards here in the U.S. is in the hands of the BEF and they SHOULD be supported by all organizations and players in the U.S.

Donate, participate, volunteer, or just support the BEF. Do SOMETHING to grow our junior billiard programs.

Thanks for the great write-up. I do support BEF, have been for several years. :)

There's only a few times a year, though, that I am reminded about BEF and their impact on pool in America. I realize it's a small entity, but I do wish there was a way they could be more prevalent in today's pool world. I don't know if press releases or advertisements is the answer. A good public relations promotion would go a long way.

I'm all for the BEF, always have been. I enjoyed what coverage we did have of this event. Thanks to all who made it possible! :)

Thank you JAM. I see so many threads here on AZBilliards about how to grow the sport. It has to be bottom up starting with the juniors. Make billiards an acceptable sport to the juniors and watch the sport take off. The industry needs to realize this. Please all support the Billiard Education Foundation and watch your sport grow.

Well stated Earl. I agree 100%. Growth in the sport requires more attention to the juniors. What the sport needs is:
- more juniors programs
- more pool in school (junior high, high school, and college), maybe as an official sport with widespread inter-school competition
- more junior leagues
- more junior tournaments
- more pool tables in schools, rec centers, and churches
- more support for juniors activities at pool halls
- etc!

Regards,
Dave
