World Pool Championship Returns to Manila, October 12-22, 2017

Yes, it will be great to have this in a mall with probably a shitty stream if there is one

If they put some seating, carpet and lighting in, I think a mall can work. I also hope that, given how popular pool is in the PI, they could get liveTV coverage (hopefully available to stream).

Thread title should say 10-ball. For better or worse this tournament is not as important than the world 9 ball. It certainly has less history.

If I were a top American player I'd have trouble justifying to myself making the trip over there rather than playing in the US Open 9 ball.

Almost all the tourneys I worked on in the PI were played in malls. They all got at least national TV coverage and some were shown all over Asia and Australia.

I like the mall idea....I think it's great for game exposure.
I'd like to see more stuff like this in North America.

And some of the advantages over a convention center?....
...the mall might PAY to have it.

Some of the Canadian snooker championships were held in malls...
...I especially liked Ville Marie in Montreal.

The WPA calendar is now showing the World 10-Ball event from Oct. 31 - Nov. 12 rather than the previously announced Oct. 12 - 22.

Very interesting. Looks like somebody understands the logistical conflict! ;)

There is only 1 American player that should ever consider going, the rest stand NO chance.

Thread is over a year old and not relevant to 2018.
Yep, deader than HulaHoop. World 9ball is going to be in Qatar for a few more years and there's been no word lately on a World 10b event. The WPA makes pro bicycling look on-the-square.

I gotta tell you though, Hula Hoops arent what they once were but they are still around and making some people good money. Most of them nowadays glow in the dark or light up but still basically the same thing i won the 12 and under county championships with in 59 or 60!
