World Pool Masters 2023 (10-13 May), nineball, Essex UK, Winner $40K

Mario He golden break to lead 3-0 vs Kazakis is golden break #8 in 87 racks. That is crazy high 9% about 1 every 11 racks.
Austrians have lion's share 5 out of 8. Also 3 players out of 16 are Austrians. 5 World Championships will be held in Austria in October this year https://probilliardseries.com/pbs/announcement-world-championships-klagenfurt-2023/
Whatever they are smoking or drinking, they should sell it

Holy Bejesus
One more golden break by Mario He to get on hill 8-5. So now Austria has 6 (Lechner 3+He 2+ Albin 1).
Definitely something that Austrians have that rest don't have.

he just had another.

on the austrians, and there are a few coming behind mario and lechner, i think it's partly a matter of group development. the netherlands had a good group 20 years ago that practiced together. poland, austria and spain have good groups now. it's definitely beneficial to live in a fairly small country with good sparring partners close by. many snooker players move just to achieve this, to sheffield, glasgow etc.

Yeah, take a look at this, all three overlayed - takes a lot of skill to be that lucky/consistent:

Has a 0 area break box - i.e., break from the head spot - ever been tried? Though it seems like the top players are going to solve whatever break rules come up.
I saw this overlay yesterday and what is amazing is not the three 9s.
Watch Max, same body position, same stance, same routine, same motion.
There is a lot to learn for an amateur like me.

Hopefully if @AtLarge does stats we capture golden breaks, dry breaks, and scratches on the breaks when it's all said and done. Be curious.

I also thought Ko was favorite over Shaw. But Shaw is a go-to for Matchroom to interview and put on the posters. I absolutely love the man on and off the table so I hate to say it. I highly doubt he'll make the Mosconi Cup team on rankings and I'm starting to question whether he's the automatic lock as a wildcard like he used to be. Not to add undue pressure but he really needs to do something big pretty soon. I'm wondering if his performance is starting to strain under exactly that pressure.
I watched his match. To me he looks like he's outta shape and needs to start doing his road/work.
His mental game and body language seem to be more intact than Filler at this point in time.

Barf. Play 10 ball

in 3 of the 4 latest 10-ball WC it looked like childs play for the winners (lil ko, kaci x2).

the best games for professionals of this level are one pocket, straight pool and 15-ball rotation. but people say that wouldn't be viewer friendly, and they might be right.
