SVB was dismissed "8-3" by 26 yr old Chang Jun-Lin in the first round. I understand jet lag and the like, but Asia is where it's at in the 21'st Century.

django bustamante was eliminated by jason klatt of canada.
now its hudjee see vs leevan corteza

Any live streaming link for this?

I've been searching the net for a live stream for this event to no avail. I would have subscribe to Solar Sports via Sky cable if I can watch it on my computer. I'll cancel it after I've watched these 3 events, World Pool Masters, the World Cup Of Pool, and the Predator 10-Ball Championships. I'm willing to be prorated after I cancelled.

This sucks...

Those are very short races. Race to 8 lasts probably less than an hour. I'm not saying SVB couldn't be beaten in a long race lasting several hours, but how can anyone draw any conclusions when we have races this short? Anything can happen (and it usually does).

Even in a short race, both players have their opportunities to win. It's who takes advantage of them that wins. Many matches swing on one critical error. There are not many racks being run as the Star table plays tough. My observation is that al the players have had trouble adjusting to the speed of the table with one exception - Dennis Orcollo! He has played brilliant, near error free pool for two matches.

He faces Fu Jianbo (China) in the semis today and Darren against Ralf in the other semi. Should be good matches and someone will be 20K richer at the end of the day. Sat with Shane awhile yesterday and he remarked how tough it was to win a tourney like this. I remeinded him how tough it was to win any tourney with a high caliber field of players. He just smiled. I asked Shane about his last trip here (in April) where he was in action every day. He said he played seven money matches and won them all! He beat Ronnie three times, De Luna, Gomez and Biado. Bet his own in each match too. Shane is one tough hombre to come here and take on a murderer's rwo of players. Still the same fearless gunslinger we all love.

I read that Shane Van Bo. got to the Philippines a few days before the tournament began. Jet Lag shouldn't have been a factor.

One quick story - I'm staying directly across the street from the humongous SM Mall North Edsa where the tourney takes place. This monstrous mall is mobbed with people every day, more than you will ever see in a mall in America. In the atrium where the tourney is held, there are four levels high of open balconies overlooking the tournament. The balconies are lined all the way around with people watching the matches all day long.

So I walk out of my hotel to head to work yesterday and notice a small sign across the alleyway that says Jack's Billiards. I never even noticed this place before, although I've worked in this mall several times. Naturally I'm curious so I walk over to check it out. Four tables, filipino models, in relatively decent shape. A game is in progress so I watch a moment. Almost immediately a guy smiles and asks me if I'd like to play. I'm wearing my sport jacket and dress pants and really don't feel like a game. He asks again, so I ask him if he want to play Rotation? He smiles and nods yes. I tell him I only have time for one game. Another guy (he will be our ref) grabs a tray of balls and racks them up. Now the smiling guy asks me what about a bet? Ha Ha, that's why I love this place, a throwback to another time in America. Sure I say, how much. How about 50p a game? That's penny ante but a regular bet in these little rooms. I say sure.

I find a half way decent cue and off we go. MY strategy is to ride the high balls, but so is his. He beats me easily. I will play him one more game if he lets me share his cue. No problem and he easily wins again. This guy can play, running out the last four or five balls each game. I hand him the 100p and ask him about trying me a game of Bank Pool. He has no idea what that is, so I explain it to him. I now demonstate the break shot and make one cross side bank. Mistake! He politely declines to play. Well it's off to work, my little excursion over. I love the Philippines, win or lose.

^typical filipino hustlin new faces in pool room.

Ya know what's crazy, I live the PI. Love the country, but I'm utterly baffled by Pinoy's reasoning? Everything has been shown live locally on Solar Sport's until the final??? Now Solar is showing "Mayweather vs Ortiz" 24/7, or what ever it's called? In addition there is this continuous blue banner at the bottom of the scene "alerting" everyone that the Orcullo/Souquet match will be shown "live" as soon as the match is over?????
Someone didn't payoff the right guy.

i think the finals was live. i remember reading that announcement and it said that the orcullo - fu semis will be shown after the finals match.

I hope you guys got to see Ralf's semi with Darren and the final with Dennis. Both good matches with lots of twists and turns. Ralf was BRILLIANT! I'm sure these matchs will be replayed as well quite often.

P.S. I returned to my hotel room AFTER the final match and Solar was showing the Orcollo-Fu semifinal, and I was told the final match aired prior to this. Kind of weird programming, but over here nothing surprises me. At least most of the time, tournaments do get aired live, whereas in the states they never do.
