world pool Masters

from what I understand it will not be streamed, only recorded to be shown on Sky Sports later

It is not that great a shock to me because Daniele is a very good player who you will hear a lot about in the future. He has reached two Euro Tour finals this season, The best part is that he still plays for FUN

Neils is the top seeded player there and the defending champ. No matter what Daniele has done on the Euro tour it's still a pretty big upset. Pretty sure I just saw Alex beat Darren.

Orcollo is out. I find that surprising. I seriously think Shane is shaping up to be a favorite to win the whole thing.

Shane is on to round 2. It looked like it was going to be a runaway with Shane up 7-1, but went on a 5 game run and brought the score up to 7-6. Shane won the next game, winning the match 8-6. The evening session is about to start soon.

Wpm

Am hoping and pulling for SVB also but the short races gives the others a fighting chance. It certainly would be great for him to snap this on off and quite the critics.

I'm glad that I didn't wager any money on the World Pool Masters. I would have lost my shirt just in the first round.

I would have chosen Feijen, Orcollo, and Immonen to make it past the first round but they all got knocked out early. The only two matches that I would have definitely picked correctly is Boyes over Majid and Van Boening over Georgiadis.

It's looking really good for Shane right now. He's on the hill and his opponent needs 6.

A theme for Van Boening so far in this tournament has been getting a big early lead and allowing his opponent back in.

From 7-1 up in three first round he eventually beat James Georgiadis 8-6, and from 6-0 he allowed Mark Gray to 6-3 in the next match.

His break on the hill dispatches the five. Van Boening can win this now, the layout is good
16:22 Ekonomopoulos 2-7 Van Boen

C'mon Shane!!!

From Matchroom:

"Van Boening has played well all tournament and the final rack epitomises that. A classy finish to the match from a classy player, one of the best in the world right now.

It is eight years since he won a singles event outside of America but that drought is over now. He picks off the colours one by one in style to beat Nikos Ekonomopoulos 8-2."
