WORLD POOL (nineball) CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 April2022), UK, Winner $60K

Wow, big upset Yapp is knocked out by lowest FR 752 of the last 16, Abdullah Al Youseef. Yapp was ahead a lot like 6 or 7 over.
Abdullah B&R 10 racks in his win yesterday. His FR is definitely underrated
Al-Yousef is not a very consistent player, but when he's on, he can be a giant killer. In the quarterfinal at Turning Stone, his play was exceptional in his win over Immonen, and he put a big scare in eventual champion Shaw in the semis, settling for bronze. That said, I've seen him play pretty badly at times and his Fargo reflects it. Of course, it will be going up when the WPC is behind us.

Naoyuki Oi might be the most hectic pro player I have ever seen.
Always running around the table, a lot of gestures and body movement after the shots.
Must be hard to keep your focus, if you face such an opponent.

I felt for Mika and was reminded of this quote from Andrew Ponzi, describing what he felt while watching Greenleaf run racks for yet another world championship:

“In billiards you have no defense when your opponent is at the table on an extended run. All you can do is sit helplessly in your chair and fume and fret while you bite your nails right down to the elbow. The layman, who plays just for pressure, cannot understand this reaction. Only the professional player, who depends on a winning effort for his bread and butter, know what it is like to suffer thus.”
Did you feel for Shane when Mika was running out by free wheeling and flaking a couple in?

How's a ref supposed to use a marker when the ball is on the rack? The template they are using is beefy too. Maybe it was impossible for him to use a marker.

SVB KO KO 11-8 in a match with few firsts (2 consecutive golden breaks by SVB and 2 dry breaks by Ko) 😅

Pre-pandemic, I think the general view on the forum was that the three best players in the world were JL Chang (821), Josh Filler (831) and SVB (828). Albin Ouschan (816) has been the most dominant player post-pandemic, so these four favorites have fared well this week. They have an average Fargo of 824, and every bit of logic suggests that one of them will win it. That said, the others Kazakis (806), Szolnocki (786), AL Yousef (754), and Lechner (797) are in good form, so we shall see.

The last eight have an average Fargo of 805, and this may represent the strongest final eight ever seen in a pool event. The pandemic is over, pool fans, and almost every great player is back in the mix. Good news for those of us who love pro pool.

The cream has risen to the top, and what a tournament it has been to this point! Now it's on to the business end of this magnificent event. Enjoy the show.

Good job by Oi to tie it 8-8 with Chang after trailing for most of match. Chang turns it on in final stretch to win 11-8 and is thru to quarters.

Quarterfinals set for evening session 530pm UK (1230PM EST) about 2 hours from now.
The Table 1 matches Albin v Filler, SVB v Chang JL could easily have been the final. Any of these 4 can be champion from here on
The undercards the other guys Kazakis, Szolnoki, Alyousef, Lechner played great to get to quarters but don't see any of them winning over those 4 Table 1 guys. Not even Kazakis

Does any one know what chalk is Chang Jung Lin using? It is the same as Anton Raga but i can´t understand the brand logo on the chalk cube.

Those top 4 guys in quarters in a way means Matchroom did quite good job with the draw. 2 in each half though would have been perfect if the 4 were split - one in each of the 4 quarterfinal matches.

Albin had mentioned that Predator has a chalk that is not available for sale as yet that he is using. Maybe it's that one.

Where is this schedule posted? I’ve searched far and wide and can’t find this… Seems impossible to find a simple schedule that shows what matches will be played on the streaming tables, sigh.
On their facebook. But they post it late near to or after session start times
