World Pool Series Grand Final (8Ball) 31 Oct-3Nov

I took a look on FB at the Alex/Justin match. The arena looks great and it's nice to see Michaela refing. The camera work is okay (not a great look from the 45 degree angle though, which was used quite a bit) and the players are top notch. The table somehow reminded me of the Chinese Eight Ball tables and I have to think that is Darren's choice since he excels at that game. I think it is a little over the top with under 4" pockets.

I had trouble wrapping my mind around the use of a Shootout to decide the match. I would prefer to see the players battle it out in a hill-hill game, but that's just my opinion and Darren is the promoter so he can do it the way he wants! All in all I salute Darren for doing something positive for professional pool and not just talking about it. As a former promoter myself I fully understand what he's going through to make this all happen. Let's hope he can make it grow into something big, perhaps by aligning with the Chinese Eight Ball association. Good, luck to him and World Pool Series!

Yet when the Alex v Justin match went to the childish shootout Michaela was benched so they could bring in the pompous TD Lanhan, or whatever his name is, to hold court. The shoot out is a ridiculous way to finish out a match, it is there to satisfy some supposed viewers who I guess are the type that go ga ga over "the golden break". There is no need for it in this format anyways as the play is quite "tight", at least on the TV table. Alex turned that 8 ball match into a 1P squeeze. All the British guys commentating (who were all quite good) said that TV table is how it should be. No buckets. They said the corners were 4 inches. They also said the mechanic had added hard inserts inside the pockets so balls would bounce out if not hit perfectly.

I have seen more than a few times those Rasson Tables spit the ball back

Not sure why must be some kind of flaw

I do like on this table that they can't hit a rail almost a diamond up from the pocket and it still go in. I like it being tight that way for pros.

Aren't these side pockets harder than a Chinese 8 ball table that has rounded open snooker faces?

I love how the commentators(who are they btw?) are basically admitting that this isn't exactly what will grow the sport.

Lousy design. Some GCs have the same issue. The ball hit the bottom of the pocket and spun out. Smart players make sure that there is a ball or two in that kind of pocket when they hit a shot hard.

It has frozen for me again and won't restart. Is it still working for anyone?

I only got to see the first 20 innings of Game 2.

no ..........

I thought it might be just me again. Pagulayan seems to be my bad luck match in this event. It froze for me yesterday in his match and would not continue while it did for others. The stream worked for me before his match and after his match but not during.

Folks *****in about Danny D's commentating love these commentators. I know, I know, I know, you'd rather hear this than him so just keep hushed! lol

Don't even try to compare Dilaberto to Melling. Melling blows him away. Dilaberto doesn't even commentate. He just babbles and tells stories. Give me a break. Even Lerner is better.

Did Alex and Dennis just get together and say screw Daz's tight table and lets turn this match into a farce. Nice to hear Melling call them out on their bad play.

BTW, gotta give Shaun Wilkie credit. I'm sure a lot of people consider him in the B or C tier level of pros, but he is a grinder. glad to see him make it to top 16 in this tournament which features a ton of really good top players.
