World Snooker 2018

Not over yet. Williams made an excellent run to get to essentially a match-winning easy shot on the pink and missed. Higgins ran out.

17-16 Williams.

At 42 years old and 15 years after he last won the title, Mark Williams is champion of the world again, seeing off John Higgins 18-16 in one of the greatest finals of all-time. Mark Williams celebrates with his partner and children after beating John Higgins

Pretty good final.

Despite the many careless mistakes by each player, they also had their fair share of clutch moments.

Okay. Is this real or not? :embarrassed2:

Why is this not funny to me? A naked guy all covered in tats who just won a world championship. I mean really!

Come on! Mark has lost his bet by winning the World Championships and he fulfilled his word (he asked beforehand Barry Hearn if he would be disciplined for this good-minded act). Its not like he has shown his private parts or something :confused::confused:
I guess its really a cultural thing where its ok for media in USA to show violence in abundance while they censor any and all kind of nudity like it was something bad. Trust me, as an European I would rather watch Mark wearing just a towel at press conference after winning WSC than to watch some chase on live TV where cops shoot a random criminal to death in the end (I would definitely prefer Jen Barretta over Mark in that towel though :p:thumbup:)

The Higgins vs. Williams final has got to be the best match at the World Championships since 2002. You've got to give credit to John Higgins though. From being 14-7 down he managed to claw all the way up to 15-15. If that is not a testament to Higgins' mental fortitude, then I don't know what is.

For me the biggest take-away from this whole tournament, and in fact from the whole season, is that despite all the hype surrounding young Chinese and other international players bursting into the scene, it is still the veterans winning tournaments. Mark Williams, John Higgins and Ronnie O'Sullivan have got to be the best overall cueists in the world today. What a time to be alive ;)

It’s like the opposite in pool

Which is surprising because you’d think age would be a bigger factor in snooker.
