I would not count the Filipinos out yet. Three out of 8 players in the winner's side (Alex , Bustamante and Kiamco) and 2 excellent players (Orcullo and Manalo) in the loser's side still slugging it out is no mean feat. I still think that one of them will take the title this weekend. Pagulayan and Bustamante are looking strong and invincible in the winners side. Kiamco should not be underestmated. He is also capable of taking it all the way home.

On the other hand, Orcullo just won 2 games against John Kutcher 11 to 0 and then over Rodney Morris 11 to 2. Manalo also has won in convincing fashion against 3 players on the loser's side by scores of 11 to 3 and 11 to 4.

Manalo and Orcullo are mad now ... LOL Of course, only one of them can make it to the final match though, and it is aways to go.

Wow, has Austin Murphy ever reached the 4th round before, not that I have ever seen! His game must be improving, and if he beats Django, he will probably face Alex.

Possible that Stevie Moore and Shane VB could be heading towards a match, although their current matches are tough ones.

Don't know if I have seen that many well known players on the left side at one time or not?

Is ESPN gonna run the finals live or just filming it for a latter release?

How old is Austin? Kids at his age, are like sponges. It does not surprise me. I remember when "the Kid" Nick Schulman, at 13, was a C level player, he went to an A level in less than 2 years...

Not only are they sponges but they are often fearless as well, scary combo!

Yes, but what happens to these super kids?....I remember years back there was a kid Mike Coultraine was supposed to be the next best thing since sliced bread that would match up with anyone...

As the story I heard goes....he walked up to (a in his prime) Buddy Hall.....looked him square in his belt buckle and said..."wanna play sum"

Supposedly the kid was the next super talent....but now I never hear about him.

Sadly, I believe Mike has had a physical problem, something like Michael J Fox, though I don't think that severe. That is why he stopped playing.

Though, I do think there is a big test for prodigies, around puberty to early adulthood, where they either come into their own as players. Or move on to to other interest, like Nick Schulman and poker. There is also the very big possiblity of getting sucked into the seedier sides of the sport.

I do hope they are encouraged to finish their educations, college can be a handy thing. I think this is one reason Charlie Williams, I believe an NCAA Champion, has such a strong entrepreneurial streak. Love him or hate him, the guy has worked very hard to make more of and out of the sport. I am sure having a good education has played a roll there.

Hi everyone....FYI....

Just talked to Alex, he said last 4 guys on the winners side are Busta, himself, SVB, and either Kiamco or Moore (dunno who won they might still be playing)

Per Tony Crosby's website, Lee Chenman won over Dave and will next face Mika Immonen. That means Mika won over Dennis Orcullo.

 Anybody have the result of my friend Hunter Lombardo's match with Luc Salvas? Thanks
