Joe "the meatman" Balsis would have to be on anyone's worst nicknames list. Yes, his family was in the meat business, but it's still a terrible nickname. Another BCA Hall of Famer whose nickname I was never too keen on is Ray "cool cat" Martin.
On the other hand, two nicknames I've always liked a lot are Shannon "the cannon" Daulton and Larry "Boston Shorty" Johnson.

It is soooooooooooooo dated. Maynard G Krebs laughs at that Nickname. This is how dated it is-When i was in third or fourth grade (1956 or so), my best buddy and I decided to form a 'club' like we'd seen kids do on TV. The name we chose - 'The Cool Cats Club'

Ya know? Some nicknames are even getting recycled. The original "Prince of Pool" was LArry Liscotti. For that matta, Mika ain't the original 'Iceman' either (Larry Hubbart is). So, not only is the 'Prince of Pool (puke!) a goofy nickname, it isn't even original.

Bill's a nice guy, Nostroke. He was a fixture of northeastern pool for many years. Also, he was the runnerup in the collegiate championships in 1969. He kind of picked the wrong year to try to win it, as some guy named Varner at Purdue University was a pretty straight-shooting collegian back then.

That's one of the better nicknames if you ask me. The ones that I don't really care for, due to a lack of any sort of originality, are the ones that rhyme with a players name. I don't know if there's ever been a sport that didn't have an "Earl 'The Pearl'" in it, has there? Shannon "The Cannon"? Who racked their brain to come up with that original idea? That's it! Enough bad nicknames. I'm going to sleep.
