Would Anybody Blame Me?

i came oh so close to grabbing the '5' Ball and firing it through the paneling last night. my bad luck just amazes me sometimes. after working on some shots for about an hour, i decide to break some racks and see how things go. of course, it was another night of horrible rolls off the break. after about 2 hours of this and only a handful of decent chances (a couple i ran out, a couple i messed up) i decided i was going to end on a high note and stay here until i ran the next rack.

for the next 30 minutes there was just no chance, none, zero, zilch, off the break. i am getting exasperated, and finally on the next break the balls began to fall left and right. they were finding the pockets everywhere, and i ended up pocketing five (5) balls on the break! then i notice the spread i was left, which is the WEI diagram below. i just gave up. said the heck with it. unscrewed the cue, turned the lights out, and gave up.

perhaps i should just take two weeks off, and then quit.

You got a decent kick safe there. The game isnt always about running out. If you are practicing by yourself, play the safe, if the safe looked succesful (ball blocking object ball) then reward yourself with BIH and run out.

Its not so much your bad luck as it is your own fault along the lines of other run outs. This happened to be unlucky but you could play a kick safe or a push to put things in your favor in a match.

To sum it up, I could blame you, but you prolly expect that from me.

btw. Have you even opened the book yet or did you read the first few chapters and dismissed it as mumbo jumbo?

Pool parallels life, things don't always go our way, and how we choose to deal with what we're confronted may actually 'be' what needs change.

No problem.........kick the 2 in the side medium speed, if you make it, you will be on the good side of the 5 to get to the 7. If you miss, it will hit the rail and come out into the middle, and you may get lucky and be partialy blocked by the 9 for a two way safe shot.:)

I don't know if I should even post this because it seems like you never take anybodies advice. You are responsible for your own luck. All this crap about being unlucky is just that, crap. The rolls even out over time. If you don't attend some kind of religious services already maybe you should look into that to improve your "luck".

How well do you play against the ghost? if you can't consistantly break, take ball in hand and run out then there is no point in trying to break and run out from where ever the balls just happen to end up. once you get proficient at beating the ghost then move to trying to run out without ball in hand.

maybe you should start with something easier like 6 ball or seven ball then try to work your way up to 9 ball.

Nice try Shane, but, I have another idea: you want to end on a positive note? Make 10 consecutive spot shots. If you can find a way to blame this on bad luck, I will gladly end my own life.

What

So, you are mad that the object ball did not break out of the pack and situate itself for perfect shape that would put you in line to finish the rack? If that is your expectation for a good break then perhaps your expectations are too high.

Some would be happy with control of the table.

Although I think this was said tongue-in-cheek, I think most religions could indeed offer DCP a better outlook on life other than "all the forces in the universe conspire against me; I am the Job (biblical character, not occupation) of pocket billiards." Particularly Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, and probably others I don't know as much about, have a lot to say that could really change DCP's mindset if he took it to heart.

i have thought about this, believe me. perhaps getting down on my knees before i head to my table would benefit me, praying to the Lord for a session of decent rolls. sure cant hurt.

I fear the only thing that you could do on your knees that would help your game is Seppuku...lol.

But you're missing the point. Don't pray for decent rolls. Pray for the strength to make the best of every situation. Pray for the serenity to find fulfillment from your meager pool game. Pray that your life remains so blessed that you have the luxury of considering poor play (on your own top-quality pool table in your own spacious home) to be a big problem! Prayer isn't supposed to help you see the low ball after more of your breaks; it's supposed to help you be a better person. As far as my knowledge goes, that's true in every religion that has a concept of prayer.

Clever... very clever... :D

DCP, honestly how do you play against the 9 ball ghost? I really want to know and I'm sure other posters would like to know as well.
