Would appreciate help in putting a value on this Joss. Thanks.

This cue belongs to a friend of mind which he obtained 10-12 years ago from a friend of his. My buddy is not a pool player and is thinking of selling the cue so I told him I would help find out what it's worth. I looked through the Joss archives and could not find the exact cue but it appears to resemble some cues from around 1995 which is right about what my friend thought. My friend said he was told it was custom made but I don't know what that means in terms of Joss cues from this period. The cue came with one shaft which I think is somewhat unusual for a full on custom made cue.

Here are some pics. It's a 4 pointer with stained BEM forearm. I appreciate any help you guys can give me. The cue is dead straight and in good condition. Only a couple of dings on the butt plate, no damage on the forearm. The finish is good and the wrap in good condition with specks well defined.

THANKS AGAIN, GUYS!

Have you checked to see what the cue goes for new?

Well, it would be difficult to make a valid comparison only because it's tough to really match this cue to something in the current line. I'd hoped to find something close in the Joss archives but haven't been able to as yet.

Good looking cue.
If you have access to the Blue Book, that particualr logo will give you an idea what time period Joss used it in. I had a cue with the same logo and I can't remember what year it was made if my life depended on it right now.
I can look it up later for you if you're interested.
I'm thinking early 90's now for some reason because that Joss I had was going on 20 yrs of age, so your time period would be correct.

According to the Blue Book, the logo is from the 1990's. Unfortunately, there isn't a Joss cue that looks similiar.

Appreciate all the input so far. I did check the Blue Book and indeed the logo puts the cue in the 90's.

When I searched the archives I could not find the exact cue, but there were a few that had the same inlay pattern in the points and the same 3 veneer point configuration with approximately the same complexity in the butt. All of these were in the 94 and 95 series cues, so I'm pretty sure we have the age nailed down.

Here are some of the cues I found with the prices from the old price list:

94-06 - $600 http://www.josscues.com/cue_archives/Archive/html/94_html/94-06.html

94-15 - $640 http://www.josscues.com/cue_archives/Archive/html/94_html/94-15.html

95-10 - $580 http://www.josscues.com/cue_archives/Archive/html/95_html/10.html

Would any of you think this information changes the estimates up or down?

Thanks much.

Thanks tduncan. I didn't look in the Crystal Leisure cues because I assumed they were private labeled for another company. Well I guess that clears up the question of whether it is a custom cue or not. Does anyone know anything about this Crystal Leisure line? Obviously the cue has the 90's Joss logo.

Any idea of the original Joss price? I couldn't find it in the old price lists. I'm still thinking the estimates so far are probably pretty good.

They are cues Joss made exclusively for Crystal Leisure. I think the estimates given are right on the money. The cue has been well cared for.

Appreciate the help. Yeah, the cue is in pretty nice shape really. I'll pass this along to my buddy, he may be interested in selling it.
