first of all, kt originally said he would always let ipt players participate in any event they wished.
Two months ago, in billairds digest (i think), he said that he was considering having the players sign exclusive contracts. He stated that if he spent his money turning players into household names, why should other pool promoters be able to profitfrom their participation. I think that article, whose content made the rounds amongst pro players in a bout thirty seconds, was kt's way of putting everyone on notice that this was actually going to happen.
If i was kt, and looking out for the ipt, and not necessarily the players, i would make them sign it, and ban their particiaption from ALL the vents outside the ipt. This monopolistic approach not only destroys the competition, but makes the players that much more reliant on the ipt.
I have spoke to many on the top players, and with the exception of prize money payout problems, they ALL have said they would sign. If the tour is viable, and paying, with 10 or 11 events a year, i cant imagine any player not signing.
I posted a few months back that this would be the beggining of the end of the wpc and the us open.
Once the players were signed, kt could hold one 9 ball event per year and call it the world championships. He could hold 1 straight pool event and call it the world championships, and so on. There would be nothing to stop him, especially the players.
I think this is his vsiosn, and the only real step he can take towards acheiving any real domination in the sport.
