Would This Make You Angry?

You go to play a tournament, there is a $15 entry fee, and loser pays the table time. You play the owner of the poolhall, and he takes 4 long breaks during the match, and plays extremely slow. Table time for losing a match is usually $5-10. You lose the match, and your table time is $21. Since he is the owner of the poolhall, he doesn't have to pay time, so he didn't care how long the match took. Would this piss you off, and would you play that tournament again?

Very, very poor etiquette on the part of the owner. Awful PR move also. IMHO, if the owner is playing in the tourney and the loser pays time, anyone who loses to the owner should be comp'd on the time.

There is a weekly event in Baltimore, Top Hat Cue Club, Sunday, that is a loser pays table time format. It is a great tourney, w/ 1st place often in excess of $250 (IIRC, $10 to get in).

I'll be sure to stay away from that one.

I'll just stick to my regular weekly event. 1 hour practice FREE :)

No table time is ever charged, the bar doesn't even take a cut from the entry. :)

Joint is alway's packed, they sell plenty of food and beer could care less abut table time.

Anybody in the know come to the Golden Triangle 6pm Sunday's

I want to know why you didn't ask them to pause the table time when he left?

I might just come out to that- what time does it usually end? What kind of tables? How much to get in + prizes?

Thanks!!

I've never heard of paying table time in a tournament, and it surely wouldn't fly here in Texas!

I hope you are playing in a single elimination tournament!! :)

And yes, if I was playing the owner and he pulled that crap on me, I'd have some words.

beat me to the punch...
