I would also make sure I inspect the balls before they got the attempt.....A freshly Turtle Waxed CB can make the draw part deceivingly easy……..even frozen to the rail…>>
I fully agree...and would add that the prop must require a LEGAL shot..which would preclude not only waxing but spit or other forms of moisture applied to the OB.

Nice shot! I knew you could make it. I could see you had the stroke. On your misses, you were not hitting center ball on the cue ball. You were hitting with slight low right. Thus the cue ball was drawing back to the left. You must hit center cue ball to make this shot. Good job.
Actually, I think he was either setting the ball up wrong (not perfectly straight in) or hitting it with left english and masseing the cue ball to the left.jay helfert said:

To scratch on this shot, you have to put the object ball in the middle quarter of the pocket, assuming pretty good draw and no side spin.

The first club I played league snooker in the club steward sometimes played for us (if we were at home). He could pot a red in the jaws of the pocket from the jaws of the opposite corner jaws (12' English snooker table) and screw back all the way for the spotted black (or in-off). I've seen professionals come close, but not do this.

I tried this shot a few times the way the original post had it set up: cueball an inch or two out of the pocket and frozen to the rail. I was able to drill the ball into the opposing corner and force the ball one rail and back down table for position on another ball I had frozen to the rail. Its a tough shot, but I wouldn't walk away from the bet.

This reminds me of a story Monica Webb was telling a few of us in our room once (she and Helena swing by from time to time). She said she likes this shot (cueball in the jaws and drawing back to scratch) because it is a good drill to test the smoothness and accuracy of your stroke. She tries it a lot and says she makes it one out of 10 times or so. Then, she proceeds to tell us that she was at DCC a few years ago when Efren walked past and watched her wondering what she was trying to do. She explained it to him, he bent over, drilled the shot, and drew the ball back into the pocket with speed on his first attempt. Then, looked over at her and shrugged with the infamous Efren grin and walked away.
