Would you have integrity?

We had a very large tourney this weekend in Edmonton Alberta Canada with hundreds of teams.

Down to the final few teams the above happened. The shooting player says that the watching player should have called a ref on the shot. Anyone with an ounce of integrity would call the foul on themself when asked. Not immediately say “you should have called a ref”

There was also intimidation of the other team as well by the fouling team.

How can this sport grow if the leaders don’t lead especially in the highest division there is?

Be an ambassador for honesty not shameful ness. What would you do as the shooter?

Pool is not the only sport that has lowlifes that take the field.

I've seen football and basketball players step out of bounds and knew it but since it was not seen by the refs... lol.... they went about their way and celebrated victory.

Who ever the player was in that vid is either, a sorry piece of crap or they didn't realize they fouled.

I find it hard to believe they wouldn't have known they fouled so I go with:

sorry piece of crap (I sincerely hope I'm wrong).

Myself, I most definitely would have admitted to the foul regardless of what was on the line.

Some probably think "it's the ref's job".... well, that right there says a LOT about their integrity...... without a doubt!!!!!!!

BTW:

The topic of this thread is "JUST ONE" of the many reasons I, along with other players I know, will NEVER play in a league, SELDOM play for any amount of $$$ that matters and especially why we don't play TOURNAMENTS in general.

But, like I said, sports in general have A55hats in the midst.

If that is actual footage of the shot, the person that said should have gotten a ref is a POS. Period. Total disgrace to all competition, in any sport.

I will go a step further and say that every member of the team should be suspended from the tournament for the next year.

During regular session I never call for an observer because its not that important a match for any unnecessary drama. However in playoffs or higher every one gets serious and some people will take liberties with whatever they think they can get away with when something is on the line.

Although the chances of happening are slim, a single shot in a single weekly league match can be the difference whether or not a particular team makes the playoffs or not. And it could be in a match at any point during the session.

Case in point: A team is very much in the running for the playoffs at the end of the session, but they don't make it. They miss the playoffs by a single point (and I've personally seen this happen more than once). That one A-hole that stated an obvious foul was a "good shot" could, in this order, cost the opposing team a shot in the playoffs:

The sh*tty call by the shooter may have cost the opponent that game. The lost game may have cost the opponent the match. The match loss may be that ONE point that cost the opponent's team that chance in the playoffs. Last I checked, you don't get no trip to Vegas or any other qualifier that will get you there without first getting to the playoffs.

So....imho, it IS just as important to have someone observe a potentially bad hit in weekly play as it is in playoffs/qualifiers/Vegas, unless your team is already qualified or you don't give a rat's a$$ about Vegas or even making the playoffs.

I tend to view the result of my match/season is due to every loss, not just the most recent or the most controversial. If I played better from the beginning then one bad call wouldn’t make any difference.

Very well put maniac and it technically could come down to one match at the end of the session.

I personally dont care to be that serious every shot in every match for all the players on my 2 teams during the entire session.

If we make playoffs I get serious...if we did not male playoffs its not the end of the world to me. Btw....every one on my team share my view or they would not be on it. Well except for one rule monger but I put up with her because she makes sure both scoresheets are completely filled out properly...ensures no one walks out without paying their dues and assists me in matching up when I am in the middle of a match.

Example....if a team needs a replay or needs to reschedule I am accommodating but she wants to forfeit them and take the points.

Hell, I've called multiple fouls on myself over the years. Just couldn't live with myself on a tainted victory.

I called a obvious foul on a teammate at the state championship years ago. We were tied hill-hill with no ref watching.

The opposing player called the foul and my teammate refused to concede the shot. A ref was called in and gave the win to my teammate after I backed the opposing player.

I thought at least they should have re-played the game, but that was overridden by the tournament director.

I'm not that serious either. In fact, I don't care if the teams I play on even make the playoffs or not. I kinda like the two week break between sessions to get recharged. A trip to Vegas just doesn't sound very alluring to me. If I want to see Vegas, I'll get in my car and drive up for a week without pool being a part of the trip. I've seen my share of players so determined to get there that have done some shady things on and around the pool table.

I cannot count how many double-hit fouls I have witnessed over the years by lesser skill leveled opponents and I have never called any of them out for it. It's just not worth it to try to explain it to them. I had a SL5 one night that didn't know/understand the foul even after I had explained it to him.

I can't understand when people are shocked when someone does something distasteful around pool.
From the first day a young person goes in a pool room, to the last day when they cash out, all you ever hear about is how someone screwed someone else, and almost everyone has a big chuckle and wants to hear more.
You reap what you sow.
If the crop is a bunch of half assed shysters, don't be surprised when their heads pop up.

I would def call it on myself. If you cheat like this, especially on such an obvious foul, you set a bad tone for the rest of the match, and also word gets around. I would not like to be known as a cheat.
