Well, this one is a tough choice.
I play drums (not in a band) and enjoy pool.
I would have to choose pro pool player making 150K/year.
Hell, I can get me a great set of drums then! :grin:
I also am a musician. I've asked myself to choose between being best in pool or music(drums). My answer is music because in pool you have to consistently place high against similarly skilled players just to make maybe $80,000 or so a year. Being a top drummer I would always be in demand

I would pay $10K to be a Rock God for one weekend, just one, glorious, unforgettable weekend with a line of woman around the corner. I might not survive but I'm willing to roll the dice :thumbup:
I choose pool player. The problem with the rock star thing is that it seems like it would be too much effort to become druggie.

I've experienced the feeling of both...
It's about equal...the feeling of it anyways...
I've played guitar to a large crowd in a crowded club and I've played pool against a top pool player in front of a large crowd with them cheering me on.
It's about the same feeling of satisfaction.

You say netting creating the assumption this is a steady thing. It is not. That net of $150K can be nothing the next year. As I would consider a pool player to not be an employee but self employed, like a business owner.
When choosing a business to be in it is not good to be in a business that is directly dependent on your own physical efforts. One illness or injury and you have no income. Nothing could be more like that then a sports player.
The day you wake up and can't compete you are out of business. You are also dependent on others to have tournaments with prize funds to feed you. No tournaments and you are out of business. Almost everything about the profession leads to skid row eventually.
Easy choice here - Do the one you prefer and enjoy the most.
