For a Bar Pool Tournament if the Bar was Not Adding ANY Money, Plus Charging a PER GAME FEE, and NOT Guaranteeing a First Prices amount of Money?

I SAY NO!

Amen! Is this really being offered by a bar somewhere?

Yes the BAR did it last month, and drew over 15, and are doing it again early next month. :boring2:

I sure would.
If I was running the tourney, and had a ringer to come in and win it every time.

....winner take all.

Work the system, don't let the system work you.

why not?

Sure if it was a place where the other players in the event were known, why not? If the prize structure is known to begin with I don't see what the amount of the entry fee has to do with it unless I dislike how they are paying out.

It will be interesting to see if the number of competitors grows or decreases. Fifteen people willing to pay a hundred dollar entry wasn't bad. If they keep fifteen people or grow it to twenty or thirty it will be a nice little event.

What was the payout from the $1,500?

The Pay-out was 100% of the ENTREE FEES at 100 BUCKS/PLAYER, and SIDE POTS that was again ONLY the PLAYERS MONEY.

BAR made out well with over 250.00 BUCKS in Quarter, plus the Sale of Food, and Drinks, but gave ZERO Back to the players, not even (1) Coco Cola., (soft drink fee with entree)

100 percent payback does not seem like too bad a deal. They are a bar- they are going to try and make money from having people at their establishment. You say they gave zero back to the players, but they took zero too. I know it would have been nice to open the tables up, given free coca cola's, and add money out of their pocket, but it is tough to make money that way. As much as you are complaining about the bar, they probably complain more about the pool players who complain about everything and want it all! Could they have done more? Maybe, I wasn't there to say for sure, but do know that they did anything "wrong." A lot of the time when a tournament has added money, a part(if not all) of it comes from green fees, sponsors, etc. You rarely see places or people pull money out of their pocket, and expect to take a lose on a tournament.

Why should you care Bruce? You wouldn't enter a tournament with a $5 entry fee, let alone one with a $100 entry. I'd say the bar owner is entitled to whatever they want...it is, afterall, THEIR bar, and their tournament. Obviously if people didn't want to play, they wouldn't show up. In your world, it would seem that no business owner should make any money at all!

You start the strangest threads of any poster here.

can I play?

Never assume anything as I think you are proposing a gambling game, and I do not gamble. I only play in small local tournaments, with entry fees of 11 BUCK MAX.

that was your quote. yes I am bored.

Yeah to think he implied you were a cheapskate. How dare he!!?

In a situation like this I would think the owner should open the tables. He should be happy the players are there and whatever watchers came to. If he doesnt give the tables up somebody else would and then he would have nobody.

No the owner should have at the very least bought the Players a Cold Soft Drink.

BTW the original question was?

"Would you spring for a $100.00 Pool Tournament ENTREE FEE

For a Bar Pool Tournament if the Bar was Not Adding ANY Money, Plus Charging a PER GAME FEE, and NOT Guaranteeing a First Prices amount of Money?"
