Wow! Did you Girls and guys see this Western Women's Amateur Open Tourny? $3500.00 added with 100% pay out? Maybe, I haven't been around much, but thought it is worth posting on the main forum. :D

Check it out http://www.westernwomensamateuropen.com/:thumbup:

I spoke to Holly the coordinator for the Western Women's Amateur Open and she was really nice to fill me in on the followings.

1. $3500.00 added GUARANTEE! no minimum/maximum entry required.
2. 100 % pay out to the players. (Entry and added money).
** Wow, Holly your giving it all back to the players? YOU GO GIRL!
3. There is one problem with the online registration (prepay before July 4th to save $25.00). Site will automatically tack on $9.95? shipping charge which she will reimburse you when you show up to the tourny... or just pay her at the tourny...

Something else I found out. The hosting hotel had the block special until 12 Jun, but if you call and ask nicely if they still had rooms they might still give you the deal. ROOM BLOCK CODE IS: WWAO99

Hmm, maybe I should had keep this one quiet...

Sunny,

That's great, women's tours need these kind of events.

Check out the $4000 added NJ State Women's 9-ball Championship in July:

Too bad the airfares were too high, I looked into it but could not find anything under 500.00! =( They should pay you to fly to Phoenix in July!

No top 32 pros allowed

This event is played on 7ft Diamond tables and is restricting top pros (US and Euro Tour). I thought it was pretty strong to add that kind of money for Amateur Event.

Luckily for me, I had planned the trip to be in the area already. The tournament was just a bonus... as you can see I just made the room reservation which should had been made by 12th for the discount:D

Wow Sunny!! That's a great event that's going to pay out!! Is a Qualifier involved?

I orginally got the $4000 added NJ State Women's 9-ball Championship event going a couple years ago. Prime Time Billiards wanted a WPBA-style tourney, and I said, SHOW ME THE MONEY, and they showed it! 100% payout, last year Karen Corr won $1700 for 1st place, My Hanh won second, and Gerda Hofstatter got third. Go to www.jpnewt.com for all the payouts.

You go Girl!!

Hi Sunny,

I was actually trying to schedule to go to this and take a shot....lol!

But, ticket prices were crazy high....and I don't know if I EVER played on 7 ft tables.

It might be too long of a shot for me....lol!!!

But, if the stars align correctly and I do go, I will let you know....would be great to hang out!

Phoebe,

Gosh! Your travel expense might out-weigh the purse  traveling from Hawaii.

Playing on 7 ft table takes a little getting used to, for you and me 9 footers. But, with your game and skills, I KNOW you'll make a quick adjustment!

It would be more than awsome to see you there:thumbup: and I will keep my fingers crossed.

I just went on-line and signed myself and another friend up for the tournament. Is there a players list or anything to confirm our entries?

Thanks!

Happy Sunday All,

Thanks for the thread to help get the word out on the event. Yes, the added $3500 is guaranteed. The Mazatzal Casino has been extremely generous and supportive of the event. It is an independent event so there is no qualifier involved. I plan to make this an annual event...sort of the amateur counterpart to the WPBA women's open. It was something that I had thought about for years but just was in the position the past 6 months to put it together. I did recently realize that anyone who entered through the AZB Marketplace was being stuck with the $9.95 shipping charge, however that is now rectified. Anyone who did pay with that charge being attached will be compensated at the player's meeting on July 10th. Below is the link to the website and I look forward to seeing everyone there. Have a great day and thanks.

additionally, please if anyone needs anything or has any questions, please feel free to call me on my cell at 602-312-8155.

God Bless,

Also...I would like to announce that the Western Women's Amateur Open is also being generously supported by the following:

Diamond Billiards Products
Predator Cues
Dale Teague Custom Cues
and AzBilliards

See you there!

The brackets for the tournament will be on AZB. I will be calling them in. I also hope to have pics and will try to post on the forums.

Be Blessed,

Only 22 players! This is why Women's pool is not progressing. With a field this small, the casino will never do it again.

I had to cancel my women's division of the U.S. Bar Table Championships many years ago. We had 19 players the last year with $6,000 Added!

Where are all the Southern Cal women players? I just don't understand why they don't support events like this. And the Northern Cal tour has many good players as well.

Womens tournaments seem to do alright on the East Coast. I don't get it either. The East cost has better women players? Johnnyt

I hope they will host more women events here even if the first year was a low turn out. Casino has been great to us pool players. We are playing out of the Bingo Hall that is converted into the playing arena. Very private, quiet and even plenty of seating area for the spectators. Of course, a few asked if I was the "Black Widow" and where she is, ha ha.

Where SoCal girls are... Hillary (aka Hill_hilla, AZB) and Sue are here. OMGWTF had a family vacation to China, so her duty called:p

I expected many more too, since there are many talented hitters from SoCal... No LA girls? Some just wanted to sweat the Best in the West tourny than drive 7 hours to Payson, AZ. It took me close to 6 from Vegas and around 9 for Hilllary from SD.

Just a little info.

This casino is also hosting the AZ State BCAPL Championship 2008:grin-square:

All the rooms are suites and up to 6 people (comfortably) can share the room. In the bedroom you can get 2 queens and a door separates into the living area with a sleeper sofa. Very spacious and clean.
