I am not a 14.1 player and very rarely watch 14.1 I guess its just not my thing. However my last 2 experiences watching the game is changing my mind quite a bit.

So as some of you know Buddy Hall and Nick Varner are doing a series of instructional dvds together that will include 8-ball, 9-ball, 1 pocket and straight pool. Today they were filming for the straight pool disc and one of the aspects of the dvd was that Nick would run some balls and talk about each shot as he played it. things like, the pattern he was running, the shape he was playing and why on each shot. So long story short he ran over 100 balls while explaining each shot in detail.

That is something I have never seen and just thought it was very cool and just another thing that has swayed me to thinking that 14.1 may be a better game than I thought.

Funny you should ask, Harrison should be putting a flyer out soon. it will be July 10th and 11th with Buddy Hall and Nick.V. I am looking forward to it.

Talking while running 100+ is something I think only the elite players can do. I will definitely buy the DVD of that. I may have to buy 2 in case I lose one!

There is nothing like it in pool, a nice high run in 14.1. You're screwed now, bruddah. There's no going back. :grin-square:

MC,
WOW!!! I can't wait for the DVD, I will purchase one for sure. Nick is truly an old school 14.1 player, you couldn't find a better teacher.

accustats had two tapes by jim rempe "how to run a rack in straight pool" and "how to run a hundred balls" in both tapes he set up a break shot and talked his way through the rack. i think it took three tries before he got the hundred run, but it is very informative as he explains what he sees and what hes trying to do. he shows that you can miss perfect shape but still have other shots to keep the run going.
