WPA Jr. 9 Ball....World Event Vegas

[Island Drive]

This is pretty cool for the kids/game/sport/tv.

Junior players will be competing next to professional players during the World 10-Ball Championship and in the same conditions.

The juniors will take the stage with the finals being live-streamed on YouTube in the same arena as the World Championship 10-Ball

This is awesome! I’m guessing many of the top players from the junior international championship tour will be participating in this tournament as well. The more national junior tournaments we can have for the top Junior players in the country, the better chance of us developing top young talented players.

Having the top pro players participating at the same venue at the same time as the top junior players provides the opportunity for the pros to develop relationships with and hopefully pass on some of their valuable knowledge / advice to the young players and potentially become mentors for the junior players.

This is reminiscent of the latter part of the straight pool era. The PPPA World 14.1 Championships in the late 1970s and early 1980s had the Men's division, the Women's division and the Under 18 division going on simultaneously. I recall that all the junior matches were played on the same table. It made for a great event.

Good luck to all the juniors.

Really fantastic to see some attention being paid to all the junior events. It would be equally fantastic to see the young folks in America have some role models in pool to emulate. Pool in general needs to cultivate a new look for itself and get away from the hustler image that is really in the past. I have spoken to Joey Tate about his feelings towards gambling and pool. He has zero interest in gambling and focuses on tournaments as his pool future. Of course his christian values have a lot of influence on that but I am very happy he feels the way he does. He loves to play and loves the competition.. Pool might just survive if things head in the direction they are with all the young folks that played in the recent event in Florida. All very well behaved and some outstanding players of all ages. Looking forward to watching the stream of the junior event at this tournament!
