I think their losing a lot of their fan base because of the Final 16 Single Elm. I haven't talked to one person (players included) that like it. In fact most think it's an unfair way to pick a winner.JohnnytPjadedd said:Yeah, I'm surprised that there's such little talk about this event. There's usually a lot more being said about a WPBA event.

sjm said:Right and wrong. She is 3-2, but she's not a rookie anymore!
But seriously, it's difficult not to consider the possiblility that we are seeing the emergence of a WPBA superstar in Pan. She missed winning the title in North Carolina by a single rack, and regardless of today's results, she will, by my calculations, leave Michigan City as the #4 ranked played on the WPBA tour.
Pan beat Allison Fisher 9 - 4. The last time I can remember anyone other than Corr winning this decisively over Allison is when Tiffany Nelson beat Allison 9 - 4 in the 2000 WPBA Baltimore Classic.
Of course, who really knows what the future will bring. I hope Pan and Thornfeldt, both undefeated to this point, meet in the finals today.

sjm said:This terrible format continues to randomize the results. Hsin Huang beats Kim White, and draws her for a second straight time and loses. Same thing with Ga Young kim and Jeanette Lee. Something needs to be done about these repeat matches that completely strip the original winner of any advantage. The blind draw could easily be modified to eliminate this possibility.
I wish all the players good luck, but two of the last four are undefeated and they are the ones that have played the best pool, despite the fact that they have gained no advantage over the other do for having done so.
If you want to defend this format to me, I'll listen, but I think it stinks, and I can honestly say that I have yet to meet anyone that has claimed to like it.
sjm said:Honestly, though you and I see eye to eye on this, I don't think many fans care about the format. The only thing that bothers me is that the format is wreaking havoc upon the players.
Don't worry for the WPBA. The women's pro pool product is a superior one, and that's why the WPBA has grown continuously for thirty years and is sure to continue to grow.
