Congrat to Ms. Pan for such a wonderful victory. Ms. Pan is a very consistent player, she never seems to have a really bad day, and she performs very well in front of TV and under pressure. I am sure she works very hard on her game, and she also conducts herself very professionally.
I am very happy to see Ms. Pan winning the Great Lake Classic.
I understand the point about the format being unfair in the sense that a player who has never lost a game might got knocked out by someone who came from the one losser side, and also, a player may play the same player twice before the semis.
I think this format has been used for quite some time now on the WPBA. If memory serves me correctly, it was first used in Florida, but I could be wrong.
If I understand this correctly, this format is not used on the WPBA. I have played in and attended quite a few tournaments that used the format of double knock out to the final 16 then single knock out to the finals. I am not sure if it is a good thing, I am just saying that the WPBA is not the only tournament using this.
I am not sure about the new system, is there something new also used in the format of the tournament that I am not awared of?
By the way, congrat to Hsin Huang for winning over Karen Corr.
Thank you.
Richard
