WPBA Great Lakes Classic....who's going?

Nice to see Helena Thornfeldt playing well. Last time I remember seeing her in the finals of a WPBA event was when she lost to Allison Fisher at WPBA Peoria in 2005. I wish her continued success.

Congrats to Pan for her first win. I'm sure there will be more to come.

She is a hard worker and plays and practices against very tough competition in China all the time. A nice person too.

I noticed that the purse money wasn't posted in the brackets for this tournament. Is that because of the new money ranking system where the ones that made it to the final 16 w/o a loss get more and takes longer to figure out? Johnnyt

Congrat to Ms. Pan for such a wonderful victory. Ms. Pan is a very consistent player, she never seems to have a really bad day, and she performs very well in front of TV and under pressure. I am sure she works very hard on her game, and she also conducts herself very professionally.

I am very happy to see Ms. Pan winning the Great Lake Classic.

I understand the point about the format being unfair in the sense that a player who has never lost a game might got knocked out by someone who came from the one losser side, and also, a player may play the same player twice before the semis.

I think this format has been used for quite some time now on the WPBA. If memory serves me correctly, it was first used in Florida, but I could be wrong.

If I understand this correctly, this format is not used on the WPBA. I have played in and attended quite a few tournaments that used the format of double knock out to the final 16 then single knock out to the finals. I am not sure if it is a good thing, I am just saying that the WPBA is not the only tournament using this.

I am not sure about the new system, is there something new also used in the format of the tournament that I am not awared of?

By the way, congrat to Hsin Huang for winning over Karen Corr.

Thank you.

Richard

Does anyone know if there was much movement in the players rankings after BlueChip? If I understand the new ranking system correctly there's a difference in money for let's say two tie for 16th. If one player went to the one loss side early but made it to the final 16 and the other made it there without a loss, she would get more money. I'm sure that's clear:eek: . Johnnyt

Before receiving a large crystal trophy she bowed to the 200-plus fans. Flashing her first big smile of the day Pan waved off a translator and said: "I'm so excited. I want to thank the WPBA and sponsors. I'm so happy."

She has my vote for learning English. I can't stand when pople come over here and work, take our money, and refuse to learn English. Before someone from another country says something, I can't stand Americans that work or do business in another country that don't either. Of course I'm old and crabby and can't stand much of anything anymore. Johnnyt

You were just about on the money sjm. Nelson and Ellerby were switched around. Thank you. Johnnyt

I don't know how the players feel about the new rankings format or the rest of fans for that matter, but I think it will add a little excitment to them(rankings). They are going to change a lot more now from tournament to tournament.Johnnyt
