Tough sweet sixteen!

With the players already in there and the ones still to be decided - that looks like some great matchups! Tough to call a victor ahead of time!
 
I would say that the days of Gerda, Helena, Monica, Viviian, Jeanette, Tiffany, Julie and the like just showing up and getting good cash are long over. They must go into shock when they go 3 or 4 and out. Nothing lasts forever. Johnnyt

What a joke! They play all matches a Race to Nine and then the Semis and the Finals are Races to Seven. No wonder pool isn't treated like a serious sport. We've allowed ESPN to bastardize our sport. Shame on the WPBA for allowing this to happen!
 
Why even put it on TV anyway? What are the WPBA players getting out of it? I've heard the WPBA has to pay like $20,000 to put each one on. I'm sure 95% of the players would like that money put in purses instead. But I think about 5% run the show there.

Spending that kind of money putting matches on TV that everyone knows who won at a time when purses are shrinking and players are leaving the tour makes no sense to me. Have the tournaments in a nice big sports bar like most of the men do. Two day tournament...not five. Charge at the door. Stream some PPV matches live. I'll bet they would make a much bigger profit this way. Stop trying to make pool something it is not nor will it ever be. JMO. Johnnyt
