WPBA Great Lakes Classic

I really like the way Ga Young Kim is playing...Cant forget about her.

I would say Julie Kelly & Kelly Fisher got the toughest 1st round draw. I also agree that Lee should beat Wendy on paper. But one never knows in one race what can happen.Looks like Allision is the fav as usual, but I will take Lee to win it all. Corr should be right there too.

Terry thanx for the bracket link...glad to see they are up. :)
My first round picks are VERY similar to yours, however I think Hines can take Menerich easy. I also think Rhee stands a good chance, as well as Mello (OMG...did I say that??) Plus I know Little has Abbink. Sakai has Calhoun, Finnie has Grecar....the rest are the same. I also wanted to note that I think Paglia can snap off Armstrong, BUT I am glad to see Armstrong playing...you go girl.
I hope we have another shot a V-Bookie Mike!!!!
I predict Rousey and Herndon to go far. :D

You're welcome LS,

I agree the pick differences you have are gonna be close matchups!
I'll second the vBookie sentiment! :)
I think Ga Young Kim or Jenn could be a "Allison" beater in the winner's side. ;)
Don't know on Corr side Helena,Sarah,Tiffany,Lisa? Laura Smith usually starts off strong.
As for Mello, she could win. Ewa is capable of taking down "ANYBODY" but she has to get her mind around that first before it happens!

Well Hob I watched Wendy lose to Sarah Ellerby and Jeannie Siever this past weekend. She does play great but there is more to my making that statement then that. The forum is new to her. She has to play one of the best in the World. Probably dissappointed about her draw. And then, most important, she flew to Holland to pick up hed dad and flew back here to play. She has to be wore out. I think she is from Holland. Or is it Germany? Anyway she flew home.

YAH!

Go Sarah, Melissa, Allison! KICK some WPBA butt.
*Yes, I'm routing for all THREE LANDSHARK!! deal with it!* lol

I'd like all three of you to win, but since that is impossible, I wish you all the best...and give me a new story to write on my site, thanks!~ya lovelies.

Dea

(Best of games to the rest as well.)

Well Rousey's knocked out Thornfeldt before, so I see no problem there. I, however, don't know if she's played Corr before. While Smith is strong, I think Corr will knock her into the loser's side. Seemed as if Nelson was shooting pretty well in NC...if she doesn't beat Corr, she will wear her down for Rousey. I have NO doubts about Rousey's ability to take Corr. ;)

Wendy is a champion and I am sure she is not disappointed or upset that she drew Jeanette. If anything, she would be excited as she would love the challenge of beating Jeanette. If she wins, or even come very close to winning, it would set the tone for the rest of the tournament and greatly boost her confidence. This will for sure be the match everyone is going to watch.

Kim Ga Young flew from Korea to Taiwan to Florida and then to Europe all within a few weeks when she won her world championship title. These players are good enough to make the adjustments because it is what they do for a living.

I would like to wish Wendy all the best.

That's 'cause you rock, Landshark. Actually, I was more impressed that you picked Megan over Tracie Hines. I'd have figured Tracie had a big edge in that one.

Actually SJM,

Landshark did pick Tracie, I picked Megan. :D
Truthfully tho it was a close call on that pick, Hines has been playing well lately.

Anybody know why Lisa had to forfeit?

Sorry, I dogged that one, Tbeaux. That was a great pick.

I assume Karen won a qualifier to get into the pro event. I haven't seen her for several years, but she used to compete frequently on the NEWT ladies' regional tour. Best of luck to Karen!

Thanx! LOL! :D However, Terry does speak the truth. I did pick Hines over Minerich. Tracie seems to be a darn good shot. I was 100% sure that she had this one in the bag. Only 2 games under, I wonder what the plays were like.

I am also surprised at Armstong's defeat of Paglia. Looks like Armstong held a pretty tight lead. I have played Armstrong, and while she is a better 9 ball player than me, she didn't impress me that much. I actually think I could take her in 8 ball. She must have been on, but I really have never payed that much attention to Paglia's game.

Don't think the lady needs much luck....she handled Angel Paglia 9-4 in first round!

Karen Armstrong is a solid player who has played quite a few WPBA events. I believe she's from Delaware or Maryland. She's a former winner of the Virginia State championship, too. She was among the ones to beat on both the NEWT and CAT tours just a couple of years ago.

Nice to learn she's back in action. Also, she's a lot of fun to be around.
