WPBA National Championship

Yay, Vivian's in the final!!! :D

She beat Monica 9-4. One more win and Vivian will claim her first WPBA title since 1998.

Other remaining players are Allison, Ga Young and Monica. Allison (beat Jennifer C 9-7) plays Ga Young (who bounced Karen 9-6) in the first semi. The winner plays Monica in the second.

Goooooooooo Vivian!!! :D

Other than looking at the ladys, who really like to watch them play? They play on bucket pockets and play about as well as a B male player.

Misinformed and incorrect. Actually, the women compete on tighter table than the UPA on average. As your post count is two, it's reasonable that you wouldn't know that the FACT that the MEN play on bucket pockets when they compete in America is often discussed on the forum.

Also, if you think the top women are "B" players, you obviously don't know their games. Take it from somebody who has played against most of the top women. About a dozen of them play "A" level or better.

Finally, your post tells me you're no fan of women's pro pool. Wondering why you chose to participate in this thread.

Hey Devil,

In case SJM didn't get through to you here's a abridged version.....YOU'RE A PUTZ!

I think this tourney has a lot of high spots, most notably it appears the return to form of Kim White. I'm happy to see her getting her game back in shape. :)
While seeing Vivian win would be nice, I'm hoping for Monie to get her first tour victory, it's got to be really bugging her coming up just short of the finals.
GO MONICA!!! ;) :)

Cmon karen you can make it out of the one loss side no problem hope she makes it to TV

She did not make it to the TV rounds. Ga Young Kim, despite being out gunned in so so so so so many areas, rather easily defeated ms Corr. The score was not quite indicative of the matych-GYK was up by 3 or more most of the way-karen never having the lead.

Nostroke, how well is Vivian playing? She's beaten some impressive people along the way and it's so nice to see her in the hot seat (I'm really hoping she can take this one home, but if not her, Monica, since it would be her first). Vivian appears to definitely be on this week.

It's always sobering to take note of this, but no American-born woman that has joined the WPBA in the last ten years has won a WPBA rankings event. With no disrespect to Nelson, Herndon and Barretta, the logical player to end that drought is Monica Webb, who has been playing great pool all year and who will gain the #3 ranking on tour no matter how it goes today.

Nonetheless, there are three other good stories out there waiting to happen:

Allison Fisher has a chance to win Amway, the BCA Open, the US Open and the Nationals in the same year, which would be amazing even by her high standards.

Ga Young Kim has a chance to win the Challenge of Champions and the WPBA Nationals in a nine day span, thereby winning over $40,000 in nine days.

Vivian has a chance to win her first title in seven years and, unless my calculations are in error, gain the #6 ranking.

So let's see who is ready to write that special story today. I'm seriously jealous of anyone lucky enough to be there watching it live!

Reread my post. I said no American-born that has joined the tour in the last ten years has won a WPBA rankings event. Jeanette joined the WPBA tour in 1993.

Monica Webb will change that statistic. My guess is that she is going to have a stellar upcoming year. She's getting used to winning and expects to beat the best players consistently. Her game has changed tremendously in the last 8 months or so. She's a more complete, mature player and does a lot of things right!

I stand corrected. Johnny

I completely agree. She has clearly stepped it up a notch and rates to win a title one of these days.

My guess is that it has been five years since neither Allison nor Karen came third or better in a WPBA tour event.

Huh? Didn't Karen win the Nats two years ago and the year before that?

Not what I said. I'm suggesting that it has been five years since a WPBA event occurred in which neither Fisher nor Corr came in the top 3.

I don't know the score, but Ga Young Kim beat Monica Webb and now faces Vivian Villarreal in the finals. Go, Vivian!!!

Ga Young Kim has beaten Monica Webb to advance to the final aganst Vivian Villareal.

I suspect that both a WPBA Nationals title and a spot in the 2006 Women's Challenge of Champions are up for grabs here, based on who won the events on the 2005 WPBA calendar. To this point Allison Fisher, Kelly Fisher and Karen Corr have won, and this is the final event of the 2005 WPBA season.

Congrats Ga Young :) Sorry Monica :(

Wow, Ga Young must be playing awfully well having eliminated Karen, Allison, and Monica. For Vivian to beat her twice in this same tournament will be an incredible feat but she must be playing with alot of confidence also.

You can do it, Vivian! :) :) :)
