WPBA NC Picks

Im gonna pick Monica- She is by far (imo) the best player in the WPBA to never have won an event and is at least 2 years overdue. I dont really see any weaknesses in her game. She is a fierce competitor. Im thinking she will finally do it here.

I would agree - if she gets to the finals she has to hold it together , that has always been a problem .

I don't know Monica, but have been watching her on TV and a few times live. She sure has all the tools to win an event, that's for sure.

Some players can't get use to being told when to break, when to stop play, and cameras in your face all the time on TV. Most of the time she's a ball to a ball and a half better when its "put the money on the light and let's see who goes broke first".

Jeanette's another one that plays better for the cheese than she does in tournaments...and she likes being on camera. Johnnyt

If Iris Ranola stays here in the states for a few years she's another champion they'll have on the tour. It's a nice 1st place pay-off, but it's going to be hard to get it more than once a year for ANYBODY. Johnnyt

she is here to stay. She has been living with her sister in Michigan.

Would love to see Sarah R. take this one, but I've got a feeling its gonna be all Kelly Fisher. Its funny though how so many people talk about how awesome and spectacular Jasmin Ouschan is, yet no one actually thinks she's going to win. Here's to seeing Sarah knock Jasmin off to the losers bracket tonight!

There are updates down the bottom of the WPBA web sites main page a few inches under where you click for brackets. J Lee def. Anna 9-1...there are more there both winners side and loser side. Thank you Anne. Johnnyt http://www.wpba.com/cms/

Line won 9-8 against Julie Kelly, and 9-7 against Kim Shaw.

Keep it coming girl, revenge against Xiaoting Pan in the next match!!!!

And she sure did get her revenge!!!

Immidiately after her match Line called me and was so excited!! Just like last match against Xiaoting Pan (lost 9-7) Line was playing awesome. This time she got rewarded, and won 9-5, after being up 7-2.

She is now in last 16 - where will it end?

Could it be because she just switched from Predator to KwikFire? :D

Kjoersvik making statement at WPBA Carolina Classic
Day two is in full swing at the WPBA Carolina Classic and fans in attendance will see a returning star in the final sixteen single elimination stage.

Line Kjoersvik, who has been tearing up the regional tour circuit all year, advanced into the final sixteen with a dominating 9-5 win over Xiao-Ting Pan. Kjoersvik led the match 7-2 and was playing with a determination that is sending a message to all opponents that she is back.

The other three players who have already made their way to the final sixteen are familiar faces; Allison Fisher, Karen Corr and Jeanette Lee.

On the one loss side, Sarah Ellerby took a 9-4 loss to Laura Smith and ended her effort with a disappointing 33rd place finish. Ellerby looked distracted throughout all of her matches.

Other surprising results on the one loss side included Kyoko Sone's win over Val Finnie. Sone trailed Finnie 6-2, but came back for the win. Sone will next face Michelle Rakin. Rakin scored a 9-7 win over Filipino sensation Iris Ranola.

Top 8 Winners
Jeanette Lee
Ga Young Kim
Allison Fisher
Line Kjorsvik
Karen Corr
Kelly Fisher
Gerda Hofstatter
Sarah Rousey

Nice job Sarah!

Rakin beats Yu Ram Cha not Iris Ranola

The AZB story is wrong.....Michelle Rakin beat Yu Ram Cha 9-7. Iris is still in it after defeating Ewa Lawrence and plays Miyuki Sakai tomorrow.

Anway, go Michelle, go!!! I'm rooting for both Michelle Rakin and Iris to make it to the final 16.

Interesting - Her Predator had a Z-2 shaft , is she using a Z-2 fitted for the Kwikfire or using a 13mm as I believe that what comes with it.

Flys in the kitchen?

My wife's cooking was so bad the flys in the backyard pitched in to have the screen door fixed!

Rodney D circa 1995.

That's funny, mine comes from a John Prine song.....

he is my hero.

Miyuki Sakai took out Monica to reach the final 16. Pan, Villarreal, and Kostanian also have made it so far.

Even though I would still like to see the double elm. comeback, I have to admit this single elm. at the end is pretty exiting. Like sjm says "the cream will always rise to the top", and it has for the most part 90% of the time, with some of the young guns thrown in.

I'm not saying I was wrong to go against the single, just that it doesn't seem as bad as I thought it was going to be when they started it. Johnnyt
